lmao. You're right, it's not too terrible. A bit generic, but still. I do like the guitar with the delay on it. Needs a lengthier solo though.
I wouldn't call this metal. I'd call this hard rock with lots of distortion. This is still very much Nickleback, and super-generic.
Ah yes, the band everyone hates despite the fact that they make tons of money. People hate them so much that they just throw their money at them in hopes they will go away. :P

I never understood why Nickelback get's so much hate, I like there music, I can't find any reasons why are they hated.
Nickelback deserves better.
Feed the machine, that should be the tagline for Nickelback as a band.
The mere fact that OP said they are even acceptable deserves soul release. Seppuku!! NAOW!!!!!
@mattbbpl: Sorry but that really help me understand it any better.
Haha, it was mostly a tongue-in-cheek joke. That song is on my list of the worst singles of all time, up there with Red Solo Cup.
Most of the people here would hate my taste in music - an eclectic mix that incorporates A LOT of mainstream music - but even I have my limits. That song seems like a blatant advertisement of all that is wrong with the music industry, and I have a difficult time even sitting through the entire runtime, LOL.
That sounds quite good. I've always liked Nickelback and never understood the hate they get/got.
This will explain everything:
this thread is going to have be exorcised now.

Yep... though I'd argue there are MUCH worse than Kroger. Like Limp Bizkit and Creed.
sounds like a weaker, crappier version of Gojira
Not even. Gojira has a lot of layering in their music and changes in theme throughout. This is a generic rock song with a standard form and extra distortion.

well like i said, a weaker and crappier version, i was mostly referring to Gojiras' latest album which wasn't as layered or complex as their earlier work but still miles ahead of this...imo

I feel like Dark Horse was their last decent album. I'll admit that their stuff is fairly generic, but that's okay because it's a very polished generic and I'm likely to have fun listening to them. Frankly, the older I get and the more I push myself forward with education the less I identify with "deep" songs because as deep as they may be I have already spent a long time thinking about and discussing various topics that songs may touch upon, but never really explore beyond superficial levels. That's not the fault of the bands who create the songs of course, they're main goal is to entertain, not bring to light new aspects of various topics in the public zeitgeist. Because of this I have largely turned to songs that entertain or make me feel certain emotions rather than attempt to get me to think about the world.
Better than going full pop, like Linkin Park just did.
I read your comment and was like this.
Do what now?.........*googles it* *Listens to new song Heavy*
Oh!.............ha, ha ha, haaaaaaa *dies a little inside*
Yeah, I'm trying to remind myself right now not to be that guy who is upset at a band for going in a new direction and exploring new aspects of music, but I just can't not be that guy in this case. ****! Linkin Park was basically the band that got me into rock music back when I was in middle school. I must have listened to Meteora and Hybrid Theory a thousand times back when I got my first car. Yes I'm aware that they are hardly the greatest band in the world, but that doesn't stop them from holding a special place in my heart. Hell that might have been the part that just died inside.

Similar thoughts. I felt that even when their style changed throughout their years, they've always somewhat maintained a distinct identity and personality from the other mainstream acts out there. But with this new direction, I feel that they've lost that identity that made me relate to their music for so many years. I can imagine Justin Bieber singing "Heavy".

I honestly had no idea Linkin Park is still a band.
Not terrible. Just not my music, but I still don't get the hate they get. Even people who like pop tend to hate them (facebook posts etc).

Those lyrics make no fucking sense.
True the lyrics are nonsensical, however the track sounds better than most of what they have put out since Silver Side Up. Although it does still sound pretty generic.
I don't get this, I am not a nickelback fan by any means but the lyrics make perfect sense to me.
