So OT, How Shallow Are You?

Put down the darned pitchforks. This topic is about how shallow you are, be it not at all, or severely shallow. Feel free to place your shallowness on a scale if you wish. I'm just curious, seeing that I've actually seen some...posts that clearly state that the poster has no idea how an attraction can grow if the girl/guy isn't a physically beautiful person to begin with.

Used to be really shallow, but recently(like last 6 months or so) I have allowed the standards to dip a little.

I don't think I'm shallow.

I have standards I'm afraid. If I'm not physically attracted to someone, it's not going to happen. It's one of the basic instincts we need to fulfill. Sexual attraction is one of many key components for me when looking for a partner. However, by the same token, I can't date someone who is a complete b**** or someone with no personality whatsoever. I have to find the middle ground.

'Shallow' is just a word politically correct fatties and ugly people use for better looking people who want to find the ideal mate. There is nothing wrong with trying to find the most attractive person in terms of looks and personality. After all that is what nature is all about.

Well...much as I'd like to say that I'm not shallow, I'm certainly more interested in initiating contact with a woman I find physically attractive. That said, I would hope that once I find the person who's right for me, it won't really matter how they look. Besides, even ugly people can become attractive if you love them enough.

I'm shallow in a sense since I really can't get attracted to girls if I don't find them physically attractive to begin with. On the other hand I find most girls that aren't obese or anorectic physically attractive so I doubt I come off as a shallow person in practice. A cute face and good sense of humour is usually enough to melt me.inoperativeRS

I'm more picky over personality than appearance. As long as said person easy on the eyes, I'm good. I have certain standards and expectations when it comes to personality, though I still don't think I'm a very shallow person. Maybe...A 5 on the scale? Shallowness is NOT why I have trouble with romantic relationships :P

Nah - I'm not shallow. I've had my moments but generally not at all..

I'm not that shallow...I've met people who were really great people, who were scarred through no fault of their own, so why punish a person for something they didn't deserve?

physical attraction is important, but its not THE most important part. i wouldn't wanna date a chick that wasn't physically attracted to me to some degree.

I'm in the middle range I guess.

Maybe just a little bit shallow. I am extremely attracted to someone as long as they take care of themselves. If they care about themselves, I dont care how they look. That means not too obese, and nice faces are good but if the person is just excessively obese and has a terrible personality, i wouldnt care about them.

Oh yeah, I forgot to give a (legit) answer. I chose the 4 range on my poll for myself. If this were personality related, I'd choose 10 right off the bat for any sort of relationship. For physical appearance however, I pretty much want the girl to be thin, healthy, and takes care of herself. Anything else and I'm rather forgiving about it. However, apparently the slim part is politically wrong, so I bumped it up to 4.

I am not too shallow. Maybe a 5 or so. :P
