So the aughties are nearly over, and so begins a new decade. So how has your decade been?
This topic is locked from further discussion.
Was pretty good. This year sucked though. I think we should call this decade the 00's. (pronounced like O's) TC, I like the sig.
I think I talk too much about my military life on here too much, but it sort of enveloped the past 6 years of my life. The first few were in highschool.
I gues the words to describe it would be meaningful. This decade will probably mean the most to me throughout my life.
At the risk of sounding like a sob story, this decade was absolutely awful. Other than my mother, my entire family (literally)has either died off or disowned me, I didn't look at a paper I signed in college when I was 16 and my step mom went to prison so now I'm "defaulted" on a $20,000 loan, I went to jail, my fiance was hit by a drunk driver and nearly died (snapped a few discs in her spine), her son was riding his bicycle and was hit by a car and he nearly died...
Though, on a positive note, I do have college credits, and last year I got $7,000 on my tax refund.
Pretty damn good, actually.
Graduated high school
Discovered the joys of sex
Graduated college
Discovered the joys of alcohol
Got a job I love
Completely (well, 95% of the way there) independent from my parents
Living on my own, handling my responsibilities.
Yup, the first decade of the 21st Century is the decade where I turned from a snot-nosed little kid into a man with responsibilites. Not trying to be dramatic.

you, good sir, are the most balanced individual I have met on these boards.
Most people would indeed come off as a sob story after you went through (a few posters come to mind, but I wont name) but that last sentence is a testament to your willpower.
Keep being an optimist...I was a pessimist for most of my life simply because I thought the world was cruel (and it is), but you can be a realist with a good attitude and the world will change to your feelings.
Keep on truckin' !!!
I survived the teen years so no complaints :PPerfectCircleslol... How true. 4 cars later and I'm still alive and with a clean record.

I'd also like to say that I think you seem like a cool dude. Judging from your posts, it seems like you've learned a lot from life. I'm sure the next decade will be kinder to you. I wish you good luck dude.

exactly.
And it does not sound mean, simply because you (I hope lol) dont take pleasure from it. But there are, indeed, people far worse off than you, me, or anyone else on this board.
in short, if you have internet, chances are 70% of the world's population is worse off than you insocioeconomic terms. Of course that is a relative term because happiness is subjective, but still...it means something.
I mean, objectively my life is pretty crappy...I borderline qualify for welfare and low-income housing, I cant afford to really go anywhere, if my car breaks down I am essentially screwed, and if I am careful I can save 50 bucks a month for my savings. But you know what? I got a good job, good friends, and a good town to hang around in so life is pretty damn good relative to the rest of the world.
I hate to say it, because it sounds cocky, but the second I stopped taking crap from people and stopped being entirely self concious is the second my life turned to near-complete happiness.
Just show your love for your friends, family, and fellow human beings initially, dont take guff if they wrong you, and always remember to have some sort of fun and humor, and life will be good

yea, I freaking love you guys.
I mean, youre my e-friends, which in the grand scheme of things doesnt really count for much. And honestly, a lot of you piss me off a lot, but I feel like my life is better because of our exchanges, for better or worse.
I love you guys
Nothing happened at all. Well, there was STALKER, that game is pretty badass.McJugga
yea
and Halfife 2...and episode 2...God that is the first video game to ever make me cry. Oh, and TF2.
seems most of you had a pretty good decade.
Up until ~2006 my life was "meh" to "**** me!". Then I switched schools, made new friends, became more independent of my parents, Studied Theology and Philosophy intently as a hobby, and got a sweet SUV for my first car. So the first part sucked, but the second part rocked out loud.

STALKER won't work on my current rig :(
Legacy drivers FTL.
Argh, wrong forum.
It's been pretty good in all. Shame my girlfriend and I split up yesterday :/
Ah well, hopefully this decade will be better. :)
I aged ten years and matured about three. Got my heart broken a couple of times, and transformed from a happy kid into this. Thinking about it now... I'm actually quite scared thinking about what the next decade will bring (good or bad).
Edit: Holy crap. Thinking about it even more... in the next 10 years I'll be hitting the ages where I should have finished Uni and have a career lined up, have a long term girlfriend, maybe even marry her and have kids and basically become a real adult. All of that would be fantastic, but it's scary thinking about it. I still have a hell of a lot of work to put in to achieve any of that though.
It's been farily good. Lost some friends ,made some friends, and stuff like that. Not really a bad year, but 2010 can be better.
It was fair...
Good:
-graduated high school in 2003
-son was born in 2007
-graduated college in 2008
-got married 2009
-bought first truck 2009
Bad:
-grandpa passed away in 2004
-brother passed away in 2006
I guess the goods out weigh the bad but the mid 2000s were rough...
