I got off work and I found out that someone keyed my car, it wasn't a small scratch either. They drew zig-zags and circles all over the car, now I have to wait until my insurance re-sprays the whole car.

This scene sums up my thoughts in a nutshell --WARNING: COARSE LANGUAGE :P

Has anyone had a incident similar to this? Has someone damaged your property without you being there?

That's horrible :/ There was a big car-keying thing going on here last summer or the summer before, parking lots full of cars getting keyed and nobody saw anything.

That would be 100x worse than what happened to me, you would have to respray the whole car. [QUOTE="Snipes_2"]

Luckily it doesn't happen at University or College here in Australia, most people are mature enough to realise the implications of such a act.

Yeah, its usually the people who don't own cars and don't understand the costs associated with repairing deep scratches, or its people who are jealous.

Nope, I got the car a week ago and only 2 people know what it looks like.

A load of cars got keyed in the car park of where I work. Some expensive cars there as well. A black Audi Q7 got keyed to ****. Unfortunately the car was just out of range of the cameras to see who done it.

Vandals anger me. They do such incredibly stupid stuff. Vandalizing and damaging peoples property and possession for no reason whatsoever.

Get this for your car

I've trashed a car or 2 in my days. Strangely enough, I just remembered so today, when a Bentley rolled up next to my window. If I'd been out, I'd probably thrown a stone at it.

While I have never had something like that happen and hope I never do, believe me, just thinking about it makes me want to rage.

That scene was the first thing I thought of when I read your thread title. That really sucks though if I came out and found my car like that I would be so angry and blown away by how horrible people can be.

I have MY reasons, doesn't mean no reason, perhaps just none that seem relevant to you. In very few cases, I've been known to rework a car, not so much out of envy nor jealousy, but because of the blatant display of excess. I don't mind success, but I can't stand excess. And if you put your car in plain sight in neighbourhoods where people don't share in that excess, I think it's a fair choice for me to let you see how good that idea was. If you're going to display the fact you own too much money, you won't have a problem spending some to get your Jag, Merecedes,Lexus, etc redone. Hell, this way, on the bright side, you won't have to keep the same ol' status object for years. Think of that as you will.

This post is my vote for most vain, arrogant post read from atop a high horse of the decade. So because others have hobbies and enjoy spending their well-earned income on cars you deem it necessary to be the robin hood of the ghetto and start trashing other peoples things instead of earning your own? When someone invites you into his house do you start throwing his paintings and pictures on the floor and break his flatscreen?

no, because that wouldn't be the appropriate setting for it. but reading context must be hard from upon your judging horse. but judge and read partially all you want. You wanted insight and I gave you some. you don't need to agree with me.

That sucks. Recently someone backed up into my car and bent the front frill and damaged the bumper. I wasn't in the car when it happened so I don't know who did it.

It's easy to say i'm up on my judging horse when you are doing the exact same thing to the people with nice cars..what's to say the guy isn't retired and wants to enjoy his final parts of life with a nice car? Or maybe he is a car enthusiast and pours all the money he has in the car, not everyone who owns a nice car is an arrogant rich snob who throws money in peoples faces.

Lets just say your in the minority here in this way of thinking. Is this an act on the net or are you actually you know like that? How old are you? I can be a bitter nasty person we all can i guess. Sometimes we all get jealous etc but you must learn to respect others and the property they own or face the consequences of your actions like a man because they will come. When i was younger i didnt think of my actions and how they effected people then again i never did anything particulary bad. You structure your sentances better than i can so you must be somewhat intellligent and perhaps older than say 15?

So whenever someone from a better part of town goes to a different part of town they need to park their new cark, undress and dress into something non brand-name, hide their cellphone and shoes, then they are deemed worthy to pass?

If they want to go to such lengths. Or just not blatantly stomp their hundreds of thousands of dollars in front of a social residence building or such, either way suits me fine. Not everything is black or white. Like I said, I have an expensive bike (don't worry, I didn't buy nor steal it, I can't afford that. I received it by accident.). I don't park it outside because kids here love bikes and they sure would love that one. I don't want to insult them directly or indirectly with it. @jwsoul: true that. But people hold more backwards ideas than that imo. I'm 26 and it's been at least 3-4 years since I trashed an automobile. And I didn't trash them on regular basis either, if that's what y'all think. Something between 3 to 5-6.

Where else exactly are they going to put their cars?

It's a big world out there. Plenty of room to store a large number of things.

So people with relatively high-valued cars shouldn't be driving around people who are less fortunate, or should have to lock their car in a secret bunker? I don't see what the point of even having a car is then. Also, please point me to the magical "rich only" road.

Paid lots, they exist. Usually safe because of said payment. Not infallible though, can't guarantee it.

Think of that as you will.Daavpuke

This made me shake my head in shame.

America--Don't own any nice cars or we'll mess em up!

Right on! Fight the war of excess by making them spend even more excess!

Gotta love it when you live in a society where work hard and earning your way to buy a nice car, is punished

I believe a small bit in Pulp Fictionsums up my thoughts about crap like this:

"Whoever did it they should be effinkilled. No judge, no jury, just straight to execution"

"I mean what's more chicken sh!t than effing with a man's automobile? You justdon't do it."

If you can't respect your own vehicle that's totally fine with me. If you want to back your car into guard rails, light posts, walls, and other assorted stuff that's fine. But if you want to back into my car and driveoff, whack it and dent the snot out of it with your door, key it, or other assorted nincompooperey then it's personal. You can justify that with whatever "logic" you want to use. You can plead jealousy or ignorance, or whatever. It doesn't change the simple fact that you (at least in the case of keying) INTENTIONALLY damaged someone else's personal porperty, and that's just WRONG. It's not something you do. If you're doing it to get back at the driver because they wronged you on the road then confront the DRIVER.

Now, there are certain things that people with nicer or newer cars can do to lessen the chances of accidental damage from things like carelessly opened car doors. The best is that if it's a bigger lot they can park in the back, away from the bulk of the cars. Now it won't protect from @$$hats who would key your car. But, they shouldn't be doing that anyway.

Screwing with someone's car is a pet peeve of mine. I drive what's left of a 1996 Dodge Avenger ES (4 cyl, stick). But my wife drives what a brand new Scion X d. It's an '09 because she bought it very early that same year. It's been keyed a couple of times and dented, BADLY, with car doors. It's because these @$$holes have no respect for people's property. And for some reason it seems that people just get jealous when anyone has anything that looks better than their stuff. Seriously, it's a Scion, a $16,000 car, and the lower budget model at that. What's to be jealous of? Apparently enough to key it. To me, that's just BS.
