I dont see what the problem is. If people want to celebrate their religion/culture, then let them. Separation of church and state means the government does not legislate based on any religous law or practice. Religous laws are not enforced by the government. That would be just silly.

Maybe he is confusing freedom of religion from separation of church and state?

He seems to have abandoned the thread :( I was hoping he'd have an interesting, colorful explanation for why it's bad.

We shall wait for his return. Keep this thread bumped.

This is something that all those uppity athiest groups that want religious symbols or at this time of year, nativity scenes, removed from government buildings or offices seem to forget. Idiots the whole lot of them.

Does not matter. That alone does not decree that the White House was stating that everyone had to convert to the Jewish faith and is what you are implying. The First Amendment states that the government cannot dictate what religion one must follow and that is not what is going on in said video you linked to.

Jefferson is the one who first brought up the seperation of church and state in his Danbury Letter. It was he who thought that government should not get involved with the establishment of religion on a national level though he never replied to the establish one at the state level (in this case Connecticut). That does not mean that religious displays cannot be held on public (taxpayer) property be it the lighting of the Mennorah or a Nativity scene.

so why is that christmas trees and other symboles are more and more removed in shopping malls and other public places?? Its a double standart of atheists being against christianity but for judiasm hey its no problem. Imagine if some one would put a cross near the white house on christmas there would be a hugh debate for that. And why has obama to show hes celebrating hanukha with jews and they show how they gonna cook the food. Why isnt he showing he showing for the rest of the 98% that he gonna celebrating christmass and how they gonna cook their christian food as well???

wake up

Christmas trees being removed from shopping malls? Every mall I've ever been to from November to January looks like Santa's f*cking workshop. I don't know what the hell you're talking about. And "how they gonna cook their Christian food"? What the hell is Christian food? Do you mean the food that we eat every day of our entire lives?

Truth. This is from another thread that I posted in:
[QUOTE="Engrish_Major"]If Obama is waging a war on Christmas, he had better retreat to an underground bunker, because it seems the enemy has taken over his headquarters:

Separation of church and state doesnt mean you exterminate every expression of religous culture. It just means you dont let religion dictate the laws of your country. You dont legislate based on some set of religous laws.
