For those that don't know, Sam Raimi will not be directing Spider-man 4. Instead, they're starting over(like they did with the hulk and batman begins). Personally, I'm stoked. I thought every single one of Raimi's movies was wretched and I'm hoping that this time they'll get it right.

They gave the reboot to the director of "500 days of summer" which I found to be extremely creative and innovative. The expectations versus reality scene was on of the most innovative I've seen in a while.

I can only hope that he can do that well for Spidey. I found the previous ones to be a bit too comical, and I didn't like Tobey Maguire as the lead.

I still don't understand why they're rebooting the series. The first two were awesome, but just because the third one wasn't doesn't mean they have to reboot the series.

I recently rewatched Spiderman (I first saw it in cinemas and I must have been 8 or 9, and loved it) and it was painful to watch. Lets hope this reboot is better.

No. No explanation of Spidey 3 is necessary... we all know it sucks. Spidey one has the most unintimidating villain in the history of comic book films. None of the actors have any chemistry, the jokes are lame, and the bridge scene is so sappy it makes me want to vomit. If you want to read my spidey 2 review, here it is

believe it or not, authors and artists have specific ideas in their works that the general publicinterprets correctly the majority of the time.

if a film does something that completely contradicts the original concept of the franchise, that is not a creative twist or even interpretation...that is called just getting it wrong.

I am all for directors putting personal touches into things that are already established, but not at the expense of the core of the franchise, i.e. Peter's dark side (brought out by Venom) being a comedic emo, M. Night miscasting 80% of the actors in The Last Airbender, etc.

I'm all for it. Spider-Man 3 ruined the franchise. Andrew Garfield seems like a promising choice for Peter Parker.

I didn't really like any of Raimi's Spider-Man movies. That being said, I'm being optimistic about the reboot. I know some people aren't happy about it being set during Pete's high school days, but I think that it was very well done with the Ultimate Spider-Man comics and the Spectacular Spider-Man TV show. I also loved (500) Days of Summer from Marc Webb, and I think Andrew Garfield could make a pretty good Peter Parker.

I don't understand why this upsets people. Those people need to read Ultimate Spider-Man. Raimi completely rushed this plot.

Doesn't matter...the studio is going to screw it up, same as with the previous Spider-Man series. Why do you think they're even doing a reboot in the first place?

I think the people against it are expecting that it will have some sort of Twilight or High School Musical vibe to it, which I'm really not expecting at all. I think it was a great decision to take it back to high school.

This. Plus I was never a fan of Tobey or Kirsten. So I am excited to see how the new Peter Parker and Mary Jane measure up to my expectations.

I hope they just stick to the story how it was in the comics. It pissed me off so much in the first one when Mary Jane was on the bridge. That should have been Gwen!

Well I liked Spider Man 2 when I saw it in theaters. At least, up until the ending scene with what happened, that was annoying. I don't know how people didn't expect Spidey 3 to be bad when the second movie ended on such a bad note.

I don't remember the bridge scene but yeah, I don't know what kind of intimidating your looking for. It's a PG rated movie.

Sure I never found Tobey to be attractive at all, which is rather shallow but hey at least I liked the Spider Man costume and imagining a web slinger of the city come to life on the screen for 5 minutes is pretty enjoyable.

They are doing it in college now. And ultimate Spider-man is awful.

also Raimis films are based off the amazing universe for the most part. All the good stories are when peter is in college, not HS.

Is Ultimate Spider-man where Spiderman and Venom's combined genes give birth to Carnage leading to a temporary alliance and some moderately cool fights?

Despite how it hasn't been long since Spider Man 3 came out i think the reboot could be good. Andrew Garfield is a great choice for Peter Parker. He is a much better actor than Tobey Maguire.

I dont know, I know venom and spidey team up against him in Amazing, if Im not mistaken. Ultimate spider-man is where the "symbiote" is actually created to cure cancer by parkers and brocks fathers. But instead it has the same attributes like the symbiote in amazing.

In response to you question about the villain, I'd say that first off, it didn't need to be PG. Second, see Frollo from Hunchback of Notre Dame (the disney musical). He's intimidating as heck and he's in a G movie. I don't expect oscar worthy performances, but I do expect a costume that doesn't look like a power rangers monster and decent line delivery on the part of the actor.

It's a continuity reboot that nobody asked for...

They're adapting "One More Day."

If it involves Mephisto undoing the continuity, I am leaving the theatre.

Yeah it seems you're looking for just one single trait. Being pervy does not mean intimidating really. The goblin was crazy and awesome all at once. That scene where he says that him and Spider-man should join up? Absolute cIassic! I really don't know what you're looking for in the guy.

From what they did announce about Spider-Man 4 before it was cancelled, I doubt it would've turned out much better than Spider-Man 3.

Ragnarok1051

This, 4th had a chance at redemption. They couldve brought venom back and introcduced carnage. Here to hoping we dont have to trod through the same storyline about the Green Goblin again. I really dont want to watch something I have back at hoem that is still relitivatley current...
