You basically listen to Nightwish which is in fact a Metal band, though not to my liking nor style...

Its not at all harsh vocals and angry, blasphemous, nunslaughtering, goat rape, devil worshipping music at all... but its the best kind there is for me.

I enjoy the harsher stuff. Its wonderful for me.

What makes metal is fast playing, distortion of guitars and guitar solo's. Usually. If you want metal with clean vocals, try King Diamond/Mercyful Fate, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, Celesty, Stratovarius, Metallica, Megadeth, Iced Earth...There is lots of metal without clean vocals. Although if you like alternative I would avoid metal altogether, although Alternative is one of my favorite music genres.

I'll admit I have not heard a lot. But it seems like all it is is a band screaming at the top of their lungs singing about dark and evil things like hell, torture, death, etc. But it seems to be very popular for some reason. I don't think you've heard enough Metal to judge it that harshly. If you're after normal singing listen to Iron Maiden, Judas Priest and Metallica, you won't find any screaming.

Not really a fan but i think it just gets people energized.

People like metal because it conveys the emotion they want to feel/connect w/ when hearing music. Basically that emotion is anger, and hence why metal music tends to be very angry.

Also most metal vocals are screaming.

Metal isn't all screaming and dark vocals.... infact i think it has some of the most meaningful vocals. I think your getting mixed up with sub-genres of Metal, not Metal itself.

Amaranth is your favorite Nightwish song... sorry, Nightwish is my favorite band, and Amaranth is a good song, but it doesn't even break my top ten favorite Nightwish songs. Ghost Love Score for the win!

If you like Nightwish, I recommend Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Savatage, Epica, Within Temptaion, and Kamelot to start out with.

Not sure why you assume that metal is just screaming. The majority of metal groups use clean vocals. Only the the extreme metal genres like death and black (and anything derived from hardcore, although that isn't technically "extrreme metal") use grunts or screams.
