So what do 'seasoned' Vodka and Whisky drinkers feel or taste...?

I've always been really curious about this. Yesterday I opened a bottle of vodka, and for the first time in my life, tried it. I'm not too sure whether it was because I inhaled while swallowing and as a result some got into my windpipe/nose, or simply because I'm not used to such a strong drink, my entire throat felt like it was burning. Like there was an uncomfortably warm, somewhat prickly sensation in my throat. So I wanna know.. Does constant drinking of it make you 'immune' to that feeling (kinda how people who do rock climbing have very rough fingertips) or do you actually learn to LIKE that feeling?

You want burn? Drink tequila on the rocks. It burns, but oh boy is it a good burn. I love some good top shelf tequila.jalexbrown

Probably because you inhaled, i just drink it fast the bite gets to be less and less. You may damage your esophagus..or at least i'm afraid of so i try to mix whenever possible, oj is good.

Those types of drinks you either like or hate. Personally, I love vodka and whiskey, but I know many that don't like either.metallica_fan42

And after smuggling tequila for so long i'm sick of it, is it wrong if you're Mexican and hate tequila? With beer, if it's crappy you get used to it, if it's good i start to notice all the flavors people are talking about.

Wtf, if everyone says the burn is normal even for seasoned drinkers... then wtf? this guy finishes 1 bottle of Bacardi Superior without taking it off his mouth at all. Seriously.

No it won't, doesn't burn at all. Whiskey and Vodka will always have that burn, but you'll grow to love it. Goes down your throat like a hot rainbow after that. Besides, being Irish and used to drinking 90-95% Knockeen Hills then nothing really burns for me after that.
