My friend wants me to find out if it is completely anonymous or do they take notes of who calls. My friend does not know what to do and would totally turn the colour red from embarrassment if people record the call. Also what exactly do you do on the hotline since my friend does not want to make a pointless traceable call.

It's not as good as you think it is. Forget the hotline and just be there for your friend.

So it is not good, or they track and will send my friend somewhere?

My sister did some work for Samaritans, some calls are recorded for training but they don't take any notes and they don't track you at all. Every phone call is treated independently.

No, hot lines are not a long time solution, they're designed to work with discrete moments of crisis. At best they'll just tell someone to put down the pills and call an ambulance, places like Samaritans just talk to the person.

My friend would not be comfortable with them recording, whenever my friend has had a voice recorded they made fun of my friend. Voices are traceable to as voices are like fingerprints.

Well my friend might drop out of school and my friend does not want to upset the family you know? I will try getting more information.

Well my friend would probably use a shotgun as it is supposed to be the most effective. I have been telling my friend not to. I swear on my life I am not making this up either to the people making jokes in the topic.

He's worried about the embarrassment from calling a suicide hotline... But would be OK with committing suicide? That is some of the stupidest logic I've ever heard.

I'm sure he has nothing to worry about. It's not going to be sent to the whole world or anything.

You should be there for him instead of asking us for an opinion. Any hotline, whether it be Alcohol, Gambling, etc are usually discrete. Someone already said it, some calls might be used for training purposes, but even that is discrete. If you feel it would help him, encourage him to calling them.

Wow. Not all problems can be solved by this way of thinking.
