So when will it be okay to criticize Obama without being called racist?

Any time I say something critical about Obama, people call me racist and say I don't like him just because he's black, which is absolutely ridiculous. I would have never voted for the most liberal and inexperienced candidate in US history regardless of his skin pigment. Any white candidate running for president with his track record would have never even made it past the primaries, but people got WAAAY to wrapped up in the fact that he's the first black candidate ever, which he really isn't, he's biracial and is half white, and was raised by the white side of his family.

Anyhow, he's just signed into law the single most expensive, irresponsible, pork-filled bill in American history which has almost nothing to do with actually stimulating the economy, and yet the media still acts like he's the second coming of Jesus Christ. Now I could have actually respected Obama if he had vetoed the bill and told them to go back and make serious revisions before he would sign it, but no, that would be way too much to expect the most liberal president in US history to oppose his own party.

So are you still going to call me racist or will you actually look at what I'm criticizing about him?

Next time someone says that just slam in their face "you're a racist for bringing up the colour of his skin, what I said had nothing to do with it". It should leave them dumbfounded.

Bush isn't in office anymore. Anyhow, the bill of the entire Iraq campaign doesn't even come close to matching the damage obama has already in just his first month in office.

Im pretty sure that our reputation around the world and entering into a possible Vietnam 2, stuck between rivaling factions and basically helping terrorists fill camps with angry youths "doesnt even come close" to matching the damage that obama has done by... signing the stimulus bill?

Not really. That's like criticizing the guy at work who just joined a few days ago. What the hell do you expect, he hasn't been around too long, and he still doesn't know the ins and outs of his jobs. Wait a few months to criticize him, since he'll know better by then.

Stop the clock! Was anyone keeping track? It's been maybe a day or two since the last topic like this. Has to be a record right? On-Topic: The stimulus bill was necessary because the previous president ran our economy straight into the ground. The non-stimulative parts of the bill are roughly 1% of the overall bill. This ground has been covered before. I am not going to call you a racist. However, I AM going to say that you're jumping the gun a bit on your judgment of the effects of the bill. It is way too early to determine whether or not the bill was a good one or not. The fact of the matter though is that the consensus of pretty much every single mainstream economist in the country was that some sort of stimulus package was absolutely necessary, and that it had to be a huge one to have any real impact on staving off a depression. It'll probably take AT LEAST a year or two to figure out if this was the right combination package or not.

Do you understand the concept of a stimulus bill/government spending? stimulus = spending. I disagree with the implementation of the bill / the content but the concept of a stimulus bill = spending bill

Incidentally, the last estimate of how much the Iraq war was costing the U.S. placed the tab at $10 billion dollars per month. Now, granted, it probably has fluxuated up and down a bit over time, but for some quick and dirty math... $10 billion dollars per month times 12 months in a year times 6 years = $864 billion dollars. Edit: This is a bit dated, since it is from March, but a quick google search turned up this estimate. Edit Number 2: THIS is a fun little toy. Estimate the cost of the war yourself by plugging in whatever assumptions you want. It isn't trivial.

Money is exactly what I was talking about, but apparently some people need more explanation than others. The money spent on the entire Iraq campaign is not even close to matching the amount of money in the pork-filled spending bill obama has already signed. This is going to be a rough 4 years.

It's really sad the way the Obama's administration is using the bad economy as an excuse to use our tax money to fund hundreds of billions of dollars worth of liberal pet projects which have absolutely nothing to do with stimulating the economy.

Its time for you to give specific examples of these pet projects with cost and they must do nothing to stimulate the economy. GO

Hmm, well first of all the bill isn't "pork-filled" but that is a different debate, and as nocoolnamejim so kindly pointed out, the war does in fact come close to matching the amount of money put into the stimulus bill. In fact, it costs even more, considering that $864 billion > $787 billion.

Once again, a link would help dramatically. Since you seem a bit unfamiliar with the details of what is actually in the bill, some perusal of this link would help you find out. It shows precisely where and how the money is being spent. The "other" category, which includes all the pork/Democratic pet projects amounts to only $8 billion dollars of the overall bill.

Actually, he DIDNT run our economy into the ground. It was a combination of all of them since Jimmy Carter. Also, remember the housing market collapse? Which party tried calling it and which party said "shut up, you dont know what your talking about."

Ill leave it at that.

The housing market collapse had more to do with Alan Greenspan than with Congressional democrats, albeit they did play a role.

NY Post is being boycotted for a cartoon that appears to compare Pres. Barack Obama to a chimpanzee. I haven seen it my self but I find it funny that its racist now but with G. Bush is was all fun a laughter comparing him to a ape.AgileNate

Easy...comparing a black man to an ape has overt racial tones going back hundreds of years. It was even considered normal in the US just 60 or so years ago to say a black person was no more equal to anything than an ape. Comparing Bush to an ape has more to do with Bush's supposed lack of intelligence. Plus, history will show that white people have never been compared racially to an ape.

As for criticizing Obama...I do it all the time but I do so without putting his race in the criticism. If one criticizes Obama on his policies and idealogy and is being called a racist then those making the accusations have issues.

You can now.[QUOTE="UT_Wrestler"]Anyhow, he's just signed into law the single most expensive, irresponsible, pork-filled bill in American history which has almost nothing to do with actually stimulating the economy, jaydough
The declaration of war in Iraq?

Ahh. Respect.

I've never actually seen anyone call a detractor racist around here except when a white supremest dude showed up for a bout 5 min before he was banned.

I support him myself, i cant understand for the life of me....how some people want obama to fail, by all means if you love your country that should be the last thing you wantEuroshinobi
sort of like how nancy pelosi and the democrats wanted us to fail in iraq and called the troop surge a failure when it was obvious to even the media that we had won?

violence is way down, the elections happened without any major violence, bush wouldn't have started negotiating a troop withdrawl if we hadn't succeeded. but regardless of whether or not you think we won, my point is the liberals wanted us to fail to advance their political agenda.
