coming off the back of the Olympics and living in London i've been unable to stand national pride really. especially as most of these flag waving idiots cant name basic facts about the country they love, ask most of them about Waterloo, the English civil war or The Duke Of Marlborough and youll recieve blank stares. its just a very annoying social convention.
In the US ethnic pride has essentially become a form of socially acceptable racism.
I'm ok with national pride but don't go to live in another country and try to bring your pride with you.

That's pretty much my opinion on the matter as well, though I would of probably said that more offensively :PBut like everything having to do with racism, the standard doesn't apply to whitey. White pride is still seen as racist.
It's not as black and white as you think. Pride helps unite people together and makes them feel as though they're one. It's great that people have pride. It's only bad when it's used to attack someone. For example, "I'M BRITISH SO I'M AUTOMATICALLY BETTER THAN YOU, RUSSIAN!" It's not bad to say, "I'm proud to be British". Why would you think there's something wrong with that?
How is being proud of your country worse than being proud of your race?
Can be just as bad. Can lead to a developing of a superiority complex. (eg. The people I know from Eastern Europe that come over here to Canada and leech off of government assistance yet continue to spew bullsh!t about how their country is better and holding stupid grudges against people that disagree).
