So... who are the intended audience for reality TV shows?

For example, I've never liked game shows. But I know a couple of friends and old people that like Jeopardy for the trivia it has, or the Price is Right for... the models. Model cars that is.

For reality TV, who finds it interesting to watch other people who tend to have... unlikable characteristics from what I've seen? Survivors and the Amazing Race and... I don't know, the names escape me at the moment. Just stuff involving people doing not very entertaining things. At least I don't find them too appealing to watch, I don't know about anyone else.

Nobody I know. I think they are trying to make them a cultural staple to make people watch them to feel "cool".

reality tv shows are fake and not reality if you look how they edit that stuff, it might as well be scripted tv

People with no taste who will watch anything. Reality shows cost little to produce, and they can load them up with product placement and tons of commercials.

I think reality t.v. would be fascinating if it wasn't scripted. If you had a bunch of people on an island with no contact with the outside world, no law, and hidden cameras everywhere, I'd watch it. It would be interesting to see Lord of the Flies in real life.

But isn't that the deal with regular Television? I would think that if people were unsatisfied and want some escapism, they would watch a crime drama and see hard working cops busting criminals, or detectives solving cases, or any of that stuff. Why would they watch seemingly uninteresting people?

I don't think that would work in this day and age. People are a bit different than they were back when William Golding wrote his book.

I suppose it would depend on the kind of people though. Also some might see this as unethical to make humans basically labrats in an experiment or something I don't know

If it is something like the Jerry Springer show, I guess the intended audience for that is someone who is frequently at the zoo.

Haha, I like them too. But to make it less horrible we do office pools about them. Doing one for Big Brother right now.

why does everyone hate on reality shows??? i watch survivor, work of art:the next great artist, and celebrity apprentice because i like to pick a favorite character and see how they do throughout all the challenges.

People who are interested in those shows. I don't see why it matters.
