I don't post in this forum much but just wondering if there are any U2 fans out there. Greatest band ever IMO. I get goosebumbs every time I watch them perform (youtube, haven't been to a real concert yet).

I really like their earlier stuff. Even though I don't care for their music today they still put on a great show that is very memorable.
[QUOTE="Oblivionfan10"]Yes, I do. I am going to the concert this summerBig_Bad_SadGlastonbury? The Minnesota Show in June :P

i only heard 2 of there songs the saints are coming and one
i like green day better
Kinda random comparison don't you think? :Pidk but im the king of randomness and the master of disaterAye. The Unforgettable Fire is one of the best albums in history, IMHO, yet U2 has fallen so far from that level if you look at their most recent work.I'll just say their last great album, imo, was Achtung Baby.
To answer the question, I do love the old U2. Not the new.

Wow. Why those two songs? :?
Try Where the Streets Have No Name, The Unforgettable Fire, Bad, and Sunday Bloody Sunday.
Those are some key songs from their early years.

They're good, but they're definitely extremely overrated.
They don't deserve the label of "world's greatest band." But they are good.
I always liked their less-bombastic and more soulful albums. And their most recent album (No Line On the Horizon) was a NICE return to form. Reminded me a whole lot of The Unforgettable Fire, one of U2's EXCELLENT early albums. How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb felt too self-*******atory and pretentious, but No Line on the Horizon was just classic U2. Great thoughtful worldly music that rocks. I dunno how to explain it, they just seemed a bit more humble and less preachy on the new album. It sounded great, some great songs (though admittedly a few stinkers), but it was solid.

I actually think that their newest album (mostly) shares more in line with old U2.
It really is a nice return to their old form. It's never going to be a classic in the same sense of their old albums, but it certainly shows that they've still "got it".
Meh, early stuff yes... but somewhere along the way they went crap. What was that awful song they released this year? get on your boots? damn that song was bad.

Yes, that song WAS utterly horrible.
Early this year, I recall finding out that U2 had a new album being released, so I checked out that single and...OH MY GOD.
Yes, that song was terrible.
It also has no place on the album, because it just doesn't fit. It doesn't fit the overall tone of the new album at all. It sounds like a song that was randomly slapped ontop some album just to help sell iPods.
Honestly, they should have cut that crap off of the album. Anyone who likes the rest of the album is probably going to hate that song. And anyone who likes that song is probably going to hate the rest of the album. It's not just a terrible song, it simply has no place on that particular album.
OT is not particularly U2 friendly TC...:PLJS9502_basic
Yeah, guess so. But I'm used to it cause U2 haters populate most other sites.
I puke everytime I hear them especially the lead vocalist boner or whatever he is called.I don't post in this forum much but just wondering if there are any U2 fans out there. Greatest band ever IMO. I get goosebumbs every time I watch them perform (youtube, haven't been to a real concert yet).

I like a couple of their songs. When i go through rough times, their elevation/vertigo song for example is nice cause i can yell at life without anyone hearing me when i turn up the volume.
I do, they have always been one of the best bands around, I've been following them since their album October back in the early 80's.
Their first 3 albums, Boy, October, and War are three of the Top 20 albums of the 80's IMO....and thats saying something.
But they have put out some excellent albums since as well
