...and it's that time of his or her life where they must learn about the story that is Star Wars. Of course you would have all the movies with you. Now the question is how would you show the story to your child? Would you show them in chronological order? In the order which the came out? Or would you not even show the prequels to your child?

What say you, OT?

Sorry but I'm showing my child Lord of the Rings over Star Wars. In fact, I won't ever tell him/her about it.

Original trilogy first. I don't really like watching them from 1-6.

I'd show them in the order they were made. Why show them any other way?

Original Trilogy, followed by some books and/or comics, and possibly my games - which will basically be old relics in a few years - and then I'll show them the prequels. I'll let them decide.

Chronological. Crappy ones first, then the good ones.

How about just letting them decide for themselves? If they want to see the older ones first, let them. If they want to see the newer ones first, let them. If they don't want to watch them at all, disown them.

Definitely 4-6 and then possibly 1-3. In fact when they are learning to count I may even start with 4... just to make sure that they start with episode 4.

Original trilogy first. If they don't ask for any Star Wars-related toys within a week, they'll watch them again and again until they know right from wrong.

No. The child will watch Indiana Jones instead and appreciate the first three movies. :x

Indiana Jones is an acceptable substitute. Until they turn 16. Then they must watch the Star Wars movies.

I wouldn't show them Star Wars at all because I never liked it myself. If they want to watch it I won't stop them but I have other stuff I would want my kid to see first like the Bond films or Lord of the Rings.

Remember when James Rolfe mentioned this in his Star Wars episode i thought about it.

I would do it 4,5 and 6 then the first three.

There are many things I will accept in my house. Asexual? Fine, I probably won't ever get any grand kids. Gay? Sure, you have my full support. Otaku/Weeaboo? Sure, following their mother's roots Got a girl pregnant/daughter is pregnant? I am giving you the look, they will take care of the child, I won't disown them. Never get married? Sure,. whatever. Commit a crime? I will be pissed but they are still my child. Religion? Don't really care either way. But... if they came to me and said they loved Star Wars or Star Trek, I will disown them.

Original trilogy then prequels.

Simply because the prequels have more of a emotional effect that way imo. But it's more lamentable imo that they probably won't play the Star Wars games I played growing up. :(

I honestly don't know the story entirely myself, didn't watch all the movies. I'd probably show him/her something else unless he/she asked for it, Miyazaki movies or Toy Story or Lord of the Rings

I'd show him/her the prequels at something like age 5 or 6 because they have lots of pretty colors and movies don't actually have to make sense when you're that young. Then at age 10 or so I'd show him/her the original trilogy; hopefully by then the kid will be able to look past the extremely outdated visuals and appreciate just how masterfully crafted the films are.

I'd probably be watching anime with them rather than Star Wars, but I'd get them to watch it in the order of 4, 5, 6, 1, 2 and 3. They would be confused as to why everything suddenly looks older technologically speaking in the last 3 so have them watch those and explain the background to the entire series ending with "because George Lucas is stupid".
