I hate when people try to confuse other people, so the stupid people say, "Wow... That's deep," in fear of being called stupid.

If everything were perfect, then there wouldn`t be any inperfections. Who made up the rule that if everything is perfect then nothing is?

I think his point was that everything being perfect would take away the significance of perfection, as there'd be nothing to compare it to.

I don't think it's particularly deep, but it's late so maybe I'm not getting the whole picture.

You're getting the whole picture, I think. It's just something that's not particularly "deep". Interesting, yes, but not deep.

This is pointless, but I`m bored so what the heck.... I don`t think perfection is a comparison, it just the way one thing is. A perfect room. A perfect cube, Cube gets placed in perfect room.. They are still both perfect... If your talking about beauty or something then thats more comparative.

How exactly do you determine that an object is perfect without an imperfect one to compare it to?

And yeah, this is pointless, but I'm probably just as bored as you are.

You do not need to compare it to anything. All you need are the parameters that specify what Y is, and, if X fits all of those parameters, it is a perfect instance of Y.

That's true I guess. I was thinking more along the lines of things less concrete and more open to interpretation, but I suppose that in that case perfection doesn't really exist.

Perfection does not exist. Humans have never ever achieved perfection so we don't even know what it is. Imperfection = anything but perfection.

Your basically saying 2 = 1 which is not true. 2 =/= 1 just like perfection =/= imperfection.

Perfection means basically flawless. If an object, the way it is intented to be is flawless, then it makes it perfect. I know its virtually impossible for all objects to be perfect, but if they were to all be perfect, they would all just be perfect!! I`m saying this because an object that is perfect can not be more perfect, so then it`s possible for mutliple objects to be perfect, and it is for all objects to be perfect as well. If that doesn`t work for you: if everything is perfect, it makes for ONE perfect universe.

Perfection exists hypothetically. It is still possible, but unlikely to happen. It doesn`t mean that a human has to be perfect. What if someone wanted to make a cube, and the perfect cube is perfectly aligned atoms with perfect dimensions, which is possible, but virtually impossible.

without perfection there cannot be imperfection as all things have to have an opposite. sure i dont know what the opposite of an orange but the fact remains looking at everything on earth there is an opposite.

now sure we can say humans arent perfect but many would make the claim there was one perfect man Jesus so if thats true that would certain fill the critieria of all things in this universe need an opposite. this also leads further to there being a God and he is perfect and the entire structure of the universe is perfect(hey if you knoiw all the mysteries of ther universe and can make a more perfect one go for it) so there are things that do hold the perfect title but those seem to be if you want to beleive in them.

of course if you dont beleive there are perfect things in this world then it becomes what the odd random exception of not having an opposite when everything else has an opposite?

so just saying you cant have imperfection without perfection somewhere whether that be God or Jesus or something else otherwise without a perfection to compare it to we cant have a imperfection and we could all say humans are perfect yet we know we arent cause we are comparing ourselves to some perfect being or measure.

not a deep thought really but rather a simple well if theres imperfection perfection has to exist somewhere.

Nah I don`t believe everything has an opposite. We label many things, some do have opposites in our mind, but they are just made up by our minds, not everything has a so called opposite.

The idea of perfection, is enough to make me realise that I am imperfect. We don't need a perfect presense to know this.

Humans are definitely not perfect, so ya, i guess that means we're all exactly where and what we should be, aka perfect. But seriously, its all relative. On the one hand, humans could be doing a lot better job of sustaining life on this planet, but on the other hand we're all products of the environment we live in and have developed very intricate ways of surviving in all environments, so we have all developed ways of overcoming our imperfections, and anything that can overcome imperfections I'd say is perfect.

Perfection and imperfection are simply relative concepts that humans have made based on observations. I could actually argue that that neither perfection nor imperfection exist since without an observer, that being humans, they, in fact, don't exist. What is perfect to one person might be completely imperfect to another. The concept of perfection is just a way for humans to explain something that needs no additions.
