I'm going to have an... "experience".. this friday and I need some good songs that'll go well with the experience. I'm mainly looking for music from the 60s but I'm open to any other trippy music as well. Try to keep the selections somewhat mellow..

Truckin - The grateful dead

Not really a song but put on Pink Floyd The Dark Side of The Moon and watch The wizard of Oz, they go together

I recommend early Pink Floyd, the Magical Mystery Tour album by the beatles, Hawkwind, and Gong if you're looking for something a little more obscure.

Pink Floyd's Piper at the Gates of Dawn, Jefferson Airplane's Surrealistic Pillow and After Bathing at Baxter's, The Flaming Lips's Zaireeka if you can pull it off, but if not The Soft Bulletin and the Beatle song Tomorrow Never Knows.

First of all, this "experience" sounds like drug use to me and if so I have a few questions. How old are you? Are you still living at home? There must be parents that know of your experience and I hope you get caught so you'll learn the hard way that drug use is wrong. For about 5 years I smoked pot, did some cocaine, speed, and even took some acid and I can tell you that I would probably be dead if I hadn't gotten away from that lifesyle. I've been clean for about 15 years now but I can tell there is permanent damage to parts of my brain because my memory is bad and I have a difficult time focusing on anything for extended periods of time. If you're thinking about doing any drugs then I would advise you not to go and find something else to do that's legal and not drug related.

Any Pink Floyd song, prob Comfortably Numb or Time. Really anything from Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here, some of The Wall, and their newest album. Kinda general, but anything by them works. Also check out some Dio (Straight Through the Heart)

there is no evidence suggesting that the major psychedelics cause any physiological harm. if our friend is in the right set and setting, there would be no reason for him to regret his experience.

I would recommend "Reflection" by Tool.

I would also recommend "Rosetta Stoned" by Tool, although it is not mellow. You will definitely trip on it...probably one of the strangest and yet most beautiful songs ever written.

Both are just over 11 minutes long.

Mr. Bungle has some pretty messed up songs. There is this one song called "The Bends"...pretty crazy stuff.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ydbtoVny6M

This is part of the song, I think the full version is 10 minutes long.

Burning the Midnight Lamp-live Jimi Hendrix BBC Sessions

And one last song I will recommend but you have to be really careful because it might burrow its way into your soul forever.

I also heard it can be pretty jive for people with depression and the like.
