They always change things when they re-release them. Usually for the worst.

God... freaking Lucas, I swear. Stop screwing with the originals. If you want to make an edit, try cutting out that crap about the midi-chlorians in The Phantom Menace.

I mentioned this at work the other day, and then a co-worker pointed out that on the Droid phones, if you look at the info sheet next to the ones on display it says "Droid used with permission from Lucasfilm Ltd." I think George Lucas has completely lost his mind. I can actually see him sitting at his computer saying "well i'll just open up iMovie to make some more changes to Star Wars..."

The original was better. Vader silently tosses the emperor over the balcony. When I saw it in the theaters the whole place was silent nobody could believe it.

The other change I don't like is how they made Han Solo fire his blaster after greedo. I gotta get one of those tshirts that say "Han Shot First."

He needs to go away. He should have just stopped with the first 3 movies(the original trilogy).

Pirate700

The Ewok eyes have changed so they now blink. The only copy of Star Wars I will be buying again are the VHS releases that are unaltred if I can find them, I am a huge Star Wars fan but these changes are getting rediculious and ruining emotional and iconic moments in the movie, like the scene where Darth Vader kills teh Emperor, having him speak just ruins it entirely and dumbs it down. I would have no problem a few changes, and actually do not have a problem with some of the special effects shots being redone or some backgrounds being re-edited to make the world look more grand and lively but having Greedo shoot first and Jabba's Door, Vader saying No, are just rediculious and distracting. At least in this version the whole Greedo and Han seen doesn't so awkward anymore because they made Greedo miss rather than poorly editing Han's head so he dodged the shot with some inhumanly quick head dodge.

Meh, I don't like too many changes for such a classic movie. Hope these changes don't ruin the series for me.

Why can't he ever change anything about the prequels?

How about he takes Jar Jar out of all the movies?...

How about he gives Qui-Gon Jin some personality?

how about he inserts more real sets and backgrounds instead of making everything look like a videogame?

How about he gives one single person in Episode III a FREAKING BRAIN, because any idiot with the least bit of common sense would have been able to stop the chancelor from becoming a dictator... EVERYONE IN THAT MOVIE IS A COMPLETE MORON.

Its funny but I can somewhat understand that they did it for continuity and make things sort of come full circle

but the correct solution was to take the NOOOO in the third movie out.

Couldn't they just fit both the theatrical version and whatever other version on the same Blu-Ray? :?

Anyone forcing you to watch them? No. I always find it hilarious when the Star Wars hardcore get proper upset when Lucas changes a tiny thing. I love the Star Wars films but couldn't care less what he changes. He's making the changes he couldn't make before and improving things. He knows his own films much better than us.

I'm suprised the laser guns are still there and haven't been changed to walkie-talkies (the changed E.T.).

I don't care anymore. I found my life easier if I stopped crying over a director making changes to his own movies, after all.

We already had a thread on this but anyways I don't see why Lucas is editing his movies when its re-released. I don't really care anymore.

No one is forcing him to watch it, but I imagine fans of the originals would like the theatrical cuts in a restored, HD print. And Lucas' last good film came out in 1989. He doesn't know what good a film is anymore.

No. THIS is changing star wars for the better... I can't even believe how good this is.. Like the continuity errors he fixes, the way he remasters it to make it fit better in context of all the movies is just absolutely incredible.

Lucas is just adding more needless CGI that adds absolutely nothing to the movie.... It is just distracting and breaks your suspension of disbelief all the time when I constantly see all this garbage that Lucas so clearly shoehorned into it....

. Its funny how some kid actually remastered starwars 100 times better than he ever could.

So? Watch the original version then. They're available on DVD. Stop wasting your time getting so upset. Ignore it and move on.
