yes. your vocal chords have been infected with a rare virus and you have only days before your voice sounds permanently like a chipmunk.

Yeah we tend to hear ourselves in a slightly higher tone than we actually speak.

Its called puberty. The release of testosterone causes your voice to lower as you get older.

This explains why people o american idol thik they can sing. It's called puberty (I'm 15 too) many things change. I took a recording of myself on my cell phone and it turns out my voice is deep and monotone (bass) when I thought I waas a tenor. Nothing is wrong with you.

Your voice sounds different in your head than it does IRL.

this happens to everyone, more so on cheap(er) cameras. On a fancy camera they use to record Hollywood movies this is not the case.

I did... and thought it would be funnier to make a puberty joke than just go along with everyone else and just say "that's normal."

Nothing to worry about, we all get surprised when we hear ourselves speak on a video or something.

nobodys answered this right yet.

yes its normal, your voice sounds different because when you speak the sound reverberates through your skull back to your eardrum which picks the external and internal sound up causing it to interpret the sound differently. its a funny bioacoustical phenomenon but its completely normal, people usually notice this alot when they start recording themselves singing or talking (a vocalist finds out how good they are the instant they hit playback and hear themselves singing, i've seen so many people go "omg thats not me, thats not what i sounded like")
