When I saw that the dog got left in the car, I was about to go ape**** on this woman.

But then I changed my mind. This sounds like it's entirely the husband's fault for putting the dog in the car and not telling her.

But honestly, how could you not know your dog was in the car? Unless it's invisible.

It was blind, deaf, and 16 years old. Chances are it wasn't bouncing around like a puppy. And I sort of doubt that it was riding shotgun.

I believe that it was completely on accident and just miscommunication.

Her husband put the dog in the car and didn't tell her, so if she didn't know he was in the car, why would she check?

That's unfortunate for the dog.

Leaving your pet in the car for four hours.. is on purpose. If you did that to a child, and it's happened, you'd be arrested for child abuse, and murder.. EVEN if it was "accidental".

But you don't get it. She didn't know the dog was in the car. She had absolutely no REASON to think that the dog might be in her car.

A question for you...when was the last time you checked behind the back seat of your car for babies (this is assuming that you don't actually have kids)?

I know that I didn't check behind the back seat for babies and dogs after I got out of my car to walk into my place of business. When YOU guys arrive at work, do you typically check for dogs and babies "just in case", even though there's absolutely no damn reason for a baby or a dog to be in your car?

Sorry, I think this was a cover up for her stupid carelessness. If she told the truth, it would look very bad for her. I think this is a case of spin doctoring.

People love to take emotionally distraught people and accuse them of causing whatever caused them to be emotionally distraught, but do you have any actual evidence that she knew the dog was in the car?

Again, let me ask you this question...how often do you REALLY check behind the back seat when you get out of your car? And if you do check behind the back seat for babies and dogs every time you get out of your car, do you think that kind of behavior is NORMAL?

OF COURSE I don't have any evidence. That's why I said I think. There's obviously no way for me to know what really happened, so all I can do is let my brain paint the picture the way it sees it. Sorry for not taking every story I read on the internet at face value. :|

You didn't "not take it at face value", you rejected it.

Is that what being a free-thinker amounts to these days? Taking a story and then flat out making up a completely different story instead?

Yeah, you said that you THINK that. But do you have any REASON to think that?

Wait it was blind, deaf, and 16?

Why in the Holy Mother of God would you permit a creature that is that disabled and old to continue living. Sounds more like torture to me.
I never understood animal enthusiasts downright need to keep all animals alive.

I used to volunteer for a no kill shelter and although I liked the work, I couldn't BELIEVE some of the dogs they kept alive. One was so aggressive, it killed every dog it had been contained with prior to being taken to our adoption area, and then we were given the responsibility of looking after an albino German Shepard that wanted to kill everything.

But on topic, that sucks I guess. It was an accident, I can't blame her for the thing dying, not like it had very long to live anyway.

Well her dog was 16 years old (that makes it 112 in dog years), blind, and deaf. For dogs in such a position, there are ample services available to painlessly put it down. It says she additionally took the dog to two clinics to try and save it, and that her husband was the one who put it in the car. What in the world makes you think that this was anything other than an accident? Either she knew her dog was in the car, in which case she intentionally baked it to death, or she didn't.

Honestly, and I mean no offense by this, but the propensity of humans to assume the worst possible explanation basically just because they can never fails to boggle my mind.

The SPCA is not a lot like PETA. The SPCA is basically the dog pound. It is a place where people can go buy certain types of pets or go pick up their pets when they run away. They often put down animals if they aren't adopted to a family in a certain time period. They often have to also put down animals when overcrowding occurs.

Whoa. I had a sixteen year old dog that was deaf and blind, too. :o
