I overheard my mother listening to Glenn Beck's and Sarah Palin's big gathering. I asked her what the event was about, and she said it was about restoring honor in the United States. I started listening to Glenn Beck and most of what I heard was idealistic things about coming together as a nation, faith and restoring America.

What is that supposed to mean? How has the United States lost its honor and how are we supposed to restore it? What else can I do besides go to school/work and vote? Should I go outside and wave an American flag around and cheer?

I don't know either, I think he mostly just says things to rile people up so they will support him.

That is my reaction as well. Not sure where the honor is lost. Perhaps they are mad about our president. I have to admit that he was a bit of a let down. He is somewhat spineless and lives in lala land.
Nevetheless, he is way better than most of the republican candidates.

It's just saying empty words in order to rouse up passions in the crowd and the TV audience.

I'm not entirely sure what he means by "honor" either. I'm curious to know when Beck thinks America did have "honor"...150 years ago when we had slavery? 50 years ago with segregation? Or is he talking really recently, like 5 years ago? Maybe he's explained that and I missed it.

Part of the rally was that he was trying to raise money so children of soldiers can go to college.

I used to be proud that my birthday was the same day as MLK's "I Have a Dream" speech. And this happened. Curse you Glenn Beck.

Wait, you mean Beck and Palin haven't got their own comedy variety hour yet? Fox has to get on that.

What are you talking about? Beck and Palin both already have their own shows on Fox News. Since when does have a show on the nation's most watched 24/7 comedy channel not count as having a comedy variety show?

Shows how much a watch fox news. Regardless, my point was, they both are a waste of time to pay attention to.

Sounds like they are just saying to be nice to each other, respect differences and realize that all americans are in this together and stop killing each other.

Standard feel good wishful thinking that nobody can really disagree with.

BTW I dont know the entire context of the speech or follow Beck and Palin to extrapolate a more precise assumption. I'm just giving my take since Ive seen so many other reports asking similar questions. Which to me seems quite self explanatory

Beck and Palin are a lot like whipped cream: heavy on fluff, light on actual substance.
