Spiderman 3!... 4, 5 AND 6? did they kill themselves or save themselves?

Now im stoked for the upcoming release of spiderman 3 on friday may 4rth. and im going opening night with my friends. So far the spiderman franchise has brought us some awesome quality movies that bring us that action-packed spidey we love to see. But the franchise has confirmed a spiderman 4, 5 and 6. This is a move that personally, I had no idea that would come up. With me thinking of the spiderman movies as a trilogy im both excited though worried on how the movies will do.

SO what do you guys think was it a good move to confirm another 3 movies for spidey, did they just kill the franchise? or save it?

The fact that they were going to make at least 6 films has actually been common knowledge in select circles since 2004, maybe earlier.

Although it currently seems that most of the main cast and director will not be involved in 4, 5, and 6, I don't see that being reason enough for any future films in the series to be bad.
