No... It isn't. If you compare it to the simpsons, south park, or family guy, it doesnt even come close. I do enjoy watching it time to time though.... Patrick is such a stoner.MythofSisyphusI'm pretty sure the creators of SpongeBob are aiming for a slightly different audience than the shows you mentioned.
I watch it, the new episodes are pretty good.
Lately it seems to be aiming at an older audience, which I find to be kind of funny
EDIT: The episode where Spongebob acts normal is my favorite one. "Wonderful weather we're having" lol

I realize that. That doesn't change the fact that it isnt as funny as those shows.

WHAT?!?! No way...come on..I cant even watch the new episodes they're so stupid. I dont watch spongebob anymore but the old ones are still funny, cuz its clever and sometimes sarcastic humor. Now its just plain stupid.

Well, the producer of SpongeBob is working with Rob Zombie on his new (animated) movie. So you get maturity, and SB influences, everyone wins.^^^^ This is very true. When they show Patrick on the drums during the Bubble Bowl, I was loling so hard.
The first two seasons are the best cartoons Nick has ever had since Hey Arnold!, but these new episodes are so dumbed down, unfunny, unclever, and stupid, it almost ruined the entire show for me. So I think I'll just avoid any and all new episodes and enjoy the older ones.
It's more suitable for its intended audience: children. At a certain age, most people grow out of it. Like me for exampleShiggumsYou must be more mature than all of us then. There's nothing wrong with enjoying children's shows. Shows like Dora or Blues Clues yes; cartoons with no educational value are fine.
Oddly enough...the more I watch spongebob...the more I begin to believe the show is not aimed at young ones anymoreDEATH_GODX
I know that is what i am thinking its like there is a whole other subliminel message throught the show that most younger kids are unable to catch on to.

Hey I'm not knocking people for enjoying it, I'm just saying what I see: that people move on (most of the time)
