Just saw Cloverfield and seen the movie trailer/teaser to the upcoming Star Trek movie (to be released Dec 25, 2008) Is this a prequil to all the movies and the series?

yeah prequel to Star Trek: TOS, looks rubbish to me with unknown actors despite being a startrek fan.

It is a prequel and will show Kirk and Spock in the Starfleet Academy. It's written and directed by JJ Abrams, which makes it even cooler.

I heard Leonard Nemoy at the end of the trailer so I am guessing it will feature Spock in some way or another. I am interested in seeing it. I surprisingly enjoyed the most recent film that they released.
