So I've been hearing that the Star Wars films are to be re-released in 3D starting in 2012. It sounds like they will be released one a year. What do you guys think of the idea? I'm not crazy about it but im not all against it.

I just hope the 3D is good enough to not ruin the expiernce of watching Star Wars again in theaters. I don't really care about 3D, but I really want to see all six films again on the big screen.

Yeah I'd like to see them on the big screen :P So if the 3D works, well I'm not against it.
I'd love to see them again on the big screen. That would be an awesome marathon if they showed them all at once. Then I would actually use that free refill on the large popcorn box.I just hope the 3D is good enough to not ruin the expiernce of watching Star Wars again in theaters. me niether but to see Star Wars on the big screen again, that in itself is worth the price of admission.Ehh. no thanks. I don't see what's so fascinating about 3D.

Maybe I'll be interested in three or four years when they get to the Original Trillogy.

You mean, you don't want to see Jar Jar Binks' head bobbing up and down in 3D?
GASP!
Yeah same here. Considering that I haven't seen the originals in theaters.I just hope the 3D is good enough to not ruin the expiernce of watching Star Wars again in theaters. I don't really care about 3D, but I really want to see all six films again on the big screen.

I already saw them, and I doubt that 3D is going to make them any better.
I'll pass.
[QUOTE="arenamaster89"]Well, I'm not a big Hobbit Guy.kamikaze_pigmyDuh! There are no big Hobbits. Hobbits are little.
Haha, Awesome
How boring. Come up with something new already. biggest_loser
So True, I mean, how many times can you re-release a movie.
My interest in the franchise sans a new live action film ( it will eventually happen, anyone who thinks otherwise is a fool ) ends on September 16th 2011 when the saga box set gets released on BD. I have had it paid for in full since the very first day it was available for pre order.
I am an absolute SW lunatic. Probably the only person on here who went as far as to rip and re-author the DVDs with original footage in them. For example, in my version of A New Hope Han still shoots first. Even with that kind of involvement i could not care less about 3D or even really seeing them in the theater again. I'll probably see IV, V, VI but that wont be until ****ing 2025 or something at this rate.
I'm not going to lie. I would see them JUST to be able to see Star Wars in the theater again. Really, the only special edition edit that ticks me off to the point of "GEEEEEORGE!" is Hayden Christensen in RotJ, but I could live with it.
I couldnt really care less I dont even like Star Wars and dont understand how they think people will want to watch ep 1-3 and 3d is definitely not going to help.
I was going to make some comment about George Lucas liking money, but then I remembered that I do too. I will probably go see Star Wars in 3D, at least the original trilogy.
What a waste, they could be making Episodes 7-9 and focusing on The New Republic to go against The Imperial Remnant, I would had liked to see Luke's wife Mare Jade in action as well.

I have some problems with this. I'm going to look at this from two perspectives:

As for your 2nd point, I care a lot!!!
Lucas is probably a big part of the problem. I don't think the prequels were very good films. If it weren't for their huge budget for effects and the Star Wars name, they'd be in the category of Babylon AD: Scifi films that are completely forgotten. Lucas was in charge of writing, producing, and directing the prequels, so if anyone's to blame, it's him.
In my opinion, the new 3 are not needed. They add in some backstory, but do we really need it? It's just as simple to go back as it is forward. They had 3 options.
-Continue Forward with the series with a few sequals.
-Go Backwards with the series with a few prequals.
-Just Stop the Series in General, mabye make a few shorts or tv shows.
Why they went with the second option is a little weird to me. Why go backwords? Just go forwards. Did we really need to bring in Darth Maul, or Jar-Jar?
Although I'm not looking forward to Star Wars being remade in 3D, I do think it will be awesome to see my child-hood favorites on the Big Screen.
