The first two Star Wars movies (ANH and TESB) are the best movies ever! ROTJ isn't bad but the Ewoks are awful.

I mean how can you hate EMPIRE STRIKES BACK? I didn't even know it was possible! The original Star Wars movie is also too revolutionary to be disregarded.

Yes, they are. Episode V was the only good movie out of all of them, and it wasn't even that all great.

Nah, the old trilogy is great.

The new ones are atrocities, though.

IV, V and VI were good movies. I, II and III were the worst movies ever made. They don't even have comprehensible plots, characters or dialogue. It is just a bunch of special effects woven together with screen wipes and couch scenes.

AHUGECAT

Yeah, stuff like Rashomon, the Godfather, or the 400 Blows ain't got nothin' on the adventures of Luke Skywalker.

But seriously, the first three films are decent. Don't go into them expecting anything more than a quasi-mystical science-fantasy space opera and they are quite enjoyable. The newer series is trash, flat out. Worthless unless you want to view them as an instructional series on how not to make a good film.

There's no accounting for taste, I suppose. The original trilogy is awesome (with the exception of some Return madness). The new trilogy is an abomination, although there's a bit of popcorn fun to be had in there if you turn your brain completely off. Ideally George Lucas should not have directed any of the Star Wars movies. I think the first only worked (he didn't do Empire Strikes Back) because he needed to prove his concept.

WOW! Did you just say Ian McDiarmid did not play Palpatien well?! You can say what ever you want about the PT (Still better than EU) but if ANYTHING was done perfectly in I, II, III it was Ian McDiarmid playing Palpatine.

Palpatine was a joke in the newer movies - the dude playing him obviously thought he was in another movie, as his performance was beyond campy. I think the new Star Wars movies would have worked better in that tone, actually, but Lucas felt the need to make everything feel so goddamn serious. I don't know why, either, as the old movies felt a little lighter. You really got a sense that the cast was having fun making the movies. The new ones, everyone just feels like they're bored out of their skulls.

Why didn't you name more then? They are among the worst. They are terribly written, terribly directed, and terribly acted. Granted, actors are only as good as the director can direct, and the script is written though.

Star Wars is very boring, the only good Star Wars I've come across was the excellent Knights Of The Old Republic 1 RPG from Bioware.

Okay... now how many of those movies have 10's of millions of dollars budgets, were commercially successful, had massive advertising campaigns, toy lines endorsed by one of the largest toy manufacturer in the world, its own video game company, a massive fanbase that dedicates their their lives to the worship of the films, and how many of them have a significant number of people adhering to a fictional religion from the movie? Name one.

I hate all star wars movies. The whole franchise is overrated. They do more talking than in any other movie I've seen and it doesn't help they released the movies out of order.

I'm just saying those movies are far worse than I-III, you're including things that aren't even related to quality of the movies.:? How is it possible when they suck more than the prequels?

The movies by today's standards are all bad, but 4, 5, 6, were ahead of its time, when they came out over 30 years ago I guess they were epic. The only gret thing about star wars is the universe and the mythology surrounding it. The acting and dialogue are very cheesy.

The prequels are FAR from the worst movies ever made. And they do have comprehensible plots, characters, and (sometimes poorly written) dialogue. How do they not?

IV, V, and VI are all great movies. However I and II are some of the worst movies in cinema currently (III was also bad, but not as bad as I and II). The only movie that comes to mind that makes me want to puke more is Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III.

Personally speaking. I think the time it was released made it popular. But releasing the same movie again with modern graphics would probably not do so well. It probably would have been a less popular movie if it was released more recently.

Lol wut? I have you ever seen a non-action-flick? Go watch 12 angry men, it's a great movie yet it only takes place in three rooms, the whoe film is dialogue.

The new movies suck because they have Anakin in it.. Lucas couldn't have done a better job of me absolutely hating the main character in every way shape or form.. Even in episode 1, what few scenes he talked in, he ruined.. And I prefer Indiana Jones series over Star Wars series.
