I'll never understand the petitions to stop Boll. If you don't like his movies, don't watch them. Ignore them. If you don't see it, why do you care if he makes movies? Are you afraid he is going to tarnish the glittering aura that surrounds videogames?

thats a joke right? I'm guessing you arent a video game fan, but House of the Dead, Alone in the Dark and FarCry are...well a farcry from being obscure. The fact remains that every second his career continues, there is a possiblity that your favorite franchise will fall into his hands. If God of War or Metal Gear Solid ever fell into his hands...that would be the most terrifying day of all time. Why dont they just let him make the Ninja Gaiden movie or sum trash like that...it should be easy for him, pointless action? check. No story? check. Scantly clad women? check. Martial Arts? check. No character development to speak of? check! This would be the type of movie where his one dimensional directing skills would be very useful!

I think the problem is that alot of people dont see video games as art. People find it perfectly ok to complain about sum new bands version of classic songs, but as soon as video games come into play, people act like games are just a childish sub-genre and they are not as important.

Ok. My question to you is, "Why do you care if he makes a bad movie based on your favorite videogame?"

It doesn't mean that it can't be done 'better' by someone else. I couldn't give a rat's ass if he trashes my favorite videogame by making a movie about it. People seem to think that they are entitled to an awesome videogame-based movie.

Yeah, I saw this. Pretty funny. I'd be pretty awesome if other people started tossing free things in for no reason. Redbull, vodka and maybe some pizza.

Ooo he made a crappy movie based on a video game. Ooo omg let's all lynch him. How can he make a BAD movie based on OUR video game franchises?
Ugh. Just get over yourself already. They're not your video games, they are in no way related to you. You didn't put any work into it, all you did was complete it and get emotionally attached to it.
The people who DID bust their ass to make that game gave other people permission to make a crappy movie about that game and that means that YOUR OPINION IS MOOT!

Perhaps because Uwe Boll is a leech and a terrible director? As for these petitions; THEY WERE HIS IDEA! Everyone is acting like this is some harebrained scheme by his detractors, but he made the challenge, so why wouldn't people who dislike him take it up?

People are so ridiculous sometimes. If you can't stand the movies he's making, don't go and see them. What's the point of going to a movie you know you won't like, and bashing the hell out of it after you've seen it? This has to be one of the stupidest things I've seen in a while.

Some people like their movies that way. I liked House of the Dead for the very reasons you have checked off. Beautiful women, graphic violence, guns, and zombies, they make for good entertainment.

By the way all this Uwe Boll hate is really good for his career, lot's of people would never have heard of him if it weren't for the tears of all you purists out there.

yes I do think that. Just like when u dish out money to go watch the next star wars or wat not, u expect a good movie. I want a good video game movie so I continue to hope so, and yes i care if he trashes my favorite video game franchise much like people cared when the new Star Wars were ruined by terrible plot and acting. Much like people cared when Peter Parker and MJ were seperated in the comics. I like art and dont care to see it ruined. If everyone thought the way you did we would only be watching steven segal movies. People who demand more are the ones that usher in better art.

yes that bugs me too, but the fact remains that Uwe Boll has made game based movies a taboo so most big name directors dont even want to touch them unless they are bribed..er...i mean offered more money than usual *cough* peter jackson *cough* So it becomes harder for good games to get good directors because every director will go "well, that bloodrayne movie sucked...and so did all the other video game movies...now i dont want my name attached to a crappy movie so im just gonna pass and direct the next generic Oscar tailored movie."

Boll has personally lost $40,000,000? Or the companies that continue to back his project's money? He seems to be doing something right...he keeps making movies.

My point is, is that you may not like him, but why exactly does it concern you? If you don't like his movies, ignore them. My earlier question still stands...are you afraid that he is tarnishing some kind of videogame reputation?

Im worried that he is tarnishing great video game franchises. like i said, people care when great book series or movie series are ruined. Think Heroes. Alot of people complained because they thought that season 2 completely tarnished the great season 1. Same goes for Uwe Boll's movies. I take it you dont care much about video games, but for people that appreciate them we would rather they werent treated like trash. Kind of like how fans wanted the Harry Potter movies to made well.

He didn't make it a taboo, he just sucks at making good movies. If a director feels he can make a good movie, then he will.
You are just blowing everything out of proportion in a sad attempt to devote your entire life to the demise of another individual who's just trying to put his vision on the screen. If you don't like his movies, don't watch them.
I love how these boll haters have effing PhD's in Boll-related material. "He did this movie and that movie and this movie only made this much and he has this much money in his bank and he's in debt" holy **** dude just stop paying attention to him.

No, I do care about videogames...as videogames. Not as feature films. Personally, I don't think 99% of videogames translate well into a film. I don't expect great films to be born from videogames. I keep my art forms in perspective. I don't expect a great movie to turn into a great videogame one day. I accept films, movies, books, games, music for what they are...not what else they could be.

His movies have no effect on video games. :? Just ignore the movies and keep playing your video games. Sheesh.. not hard!
Grapes of Wrath is my favorite book and I hated the movie. Does that mean I'm going to start crying and signing petitions? No.. that means I am not going to watch the movie again.. :|

Not personally, he uses tax exemptions to get his funding. So, he's basically using tax money to fund his piles of ****.

My point is one I'll have to reiterate; He issued the challenge, therefore I'll take him up on that. Also, stop with your condescending bull****, Mkay? I wouldn't give a flying **** if he decided to make terrible movies on his own dime. More over, I still don't care that much that he exploits the German people with his crappy movies, but he issued a challenge to movie goers everywhere and so we respond with an emphatic "We hate your movies"

yes that bugs me too, but the fact remains that Uwe Boll has made game based movies a taboo so most big name directors dont even want to touch them unless they are bribed..er...i mean offered more money than usual *cough* peter jackson *cough* So it becomes harder for good games to get good directors because every director will go "well, that bloodrayne movie sucked...and so did all the other video game movies...now i dont want my name attached to a crappy movie so im just gonna pass and direct the next generic Oscar tailored movie."

II_Seraphim_II

He didn't make it a taboo, he just sucks at making good movies. If a director feels he can make a good movie, then he will.
You are just blowing everything out of proportion in a sad attempt to devote your entire life to the demise of another individual who's just trying to put his vision on the screen. If you don't like his movies, don't watch them.
I love how these boll haters have effing PhD's in Boll-related material. "He did this movie and that movie and this movie only made this much and he has this much money in his bank and he's in debt" holy **** dude just stop paying attention to him.

hey, i never said i wanted to sign the petition. I dont mind him making movies, heck he can make all the movies he wants, im all for it. I just wish he would move away from the video game market. If he wants to direct the next star wars, then by all means! just stay away from the video game movies so maybe we can get a few good ones out there.

Think about why no one else is. He doesn't have some exclusivity contract with all videogame makers. No one is stopping anyone else from making movies.

assumptions FTL...no where did i say i was going to sign the petition. :? And i still play the video games, but like alot of people we like to see our favorite art in a different medium, and its alot harder to get a movie studio to fund a "relaunch" than to make it the first time. So if Uwe screws up a game movie, chances of getting it remade into a better movie are very small. And why not take yor own advise and ignore people that dislike Uwe Bolls work instead of "crying" about it?

He only tarnishes them to people like you I think. Stephen King once said in response to his purist fans, "Movies ain't books." I think that it fits here as well.

I have friends who always think they could have made this or that better than the director. I figure that their best bet (and yours) is to go to film school and offer the public their vision, because the fact is nobody cares what they think and all the complaining in the world isn't going to stop things that you don't like being produced.

]Ok.

II_Seraphim_II

yes I do think that.

How does he get the licenses? Shouldn't you be more mad at the people who sell him the licenses, not caring about their games? Erasorn

In other words: "ARGGHHH ANGRY VIDEO GAME NERD RARRRRH!"

No offense but you guys are all the same.

Wow...great arguement there! glad to know your debating skill are top notch. When you dont have a valid response just insult the poster :?

I already said it before. It's not your game, you had nothing to do with it, and if the guys making these games are letting him make the movies, then you are mad at the wrong guy.

I never said you were signing petitions, so I don't know why you keep mentioning that. :?
Again, if a director feels he can make a good movie based on a video game, he will. I doubt they take every single game-related movie into account and then make their decision based on that.. they go off of their skill, vision, and resources.
I'm just trying to see what this infatuation with uwe boll is all about. It's just confusing watching you guys obsess over something to simple and inane.
