I know, I made a thread. I must be bored. :P If someone made this thread already, just lock it.

http://gma.yahoo.com/blogs/abc-blogs/colorado-student-banned-yearbook-over-racy-photo-201606793--abc-news.html

"A Colorado teenager whose yearbook picture was rejected for being too revealing is vowing to fight the ban with her high school's administration, but the editors of the yearbook insist it was their decision alone on the photo.

The five student editors of the Durango High School yearbook in Durango, Col., told the Durango Herald they were the ones who made the call not to publish a picture of senior Sydney Spies posing in a short yellow skirt midriff and shoulder-exposing black shawl as her senior portrait.

"We are an award-winning yearbook. We don't want to diminish the quality with something that can be seen as unprofessional," student Brian Jaramillo told the paper on Thursday."

More on the story on the link above.

Picture is in the link, what do you guys think? I think she looks like a stripper and needs to go somewhere else if she wants to take pictures like that. All they need to do is Photoshop a stripper pole.

Yep, thats what I think too. Its a school yearbook for gods sake, theres no need to dress and pose in such a manner.

Yeah, kind of much for a school year-book.

Pretty dumb situation overall. Not sure why one somewhat 'provocative' photo, in the middle of so many other photos, should be left out. Yet, I'm not sure what she was thinking making that her yearbook picture, and the school has every right to leave it out.

I think to me it's half that and half they don't want parents complaining about some girl having a photo like that... because I am sure someone will say something if it was published.

She can upload her pics on Facebook if she's that determined to express herself. I worked on the yearbook for my last year of HS and I probably would have filtered that out too to prevent backlash from parents and teachers (and admittedly, probably made a copy to my personal drive).

Pretty much this. I always thought a yearbook was for the students? I guess not. That's fine but it'd be nice if they had plainly stated their intentions when making the yearbook. A dumb situation in general.

I'm pretty sure a lot of people who don't know her care about this situation. Point me to where news stories are worth posting? Because really if we literally have to WAIT for something BIG to happen then journalists wouldn't have that much to do.

Look around, it's a forum. People talk about crap all the time that doesn't matter. If you don't like talking about meaningless stuff then I don't see why you are on the Internet to begin with. Yeah, journalists should wait to publish newspapers/magazines/etc to when someone blows up a school or something or the President dies.

There is a difference about what people would talk about and what the News should be concerned about. Locally, there is nothing wrong with that, but it is ridiculous that it is considered that it is a national story

Meh, that's nothing unreasonable. My school would filter out photos in which the only "crime" was that a guy and a girl were within 1 foot of each other.

Just because it's hosted on a huge multinational media corporation's website doesn't mean it's a "national story." They report all kinds of news, from serious issues down to the most minor and pointless stories, as is the case with the media in any country...

Yeah but you gotta remember that the news just like almost everything else in this world is a business. Not everyone is worried about the main issues going on in the world. A lot of people care about scandalous stuff more than some main issue unless the main issue was scandalous in itself. Like Casey Anthony, we didn't need to know about that but apparently it got some big time on the TV. I'm just saying we need filler stories.
