Dark Tower was amazing =]
But I'm not really following your genre interest, I'm just gonna suggest books that I consider a must:
American Psycho by Bret Easton Ellis (only read if you have a strong stomach)
Snow by Orhan Pamuk (Nobel prize winner)
Shogun by James Clavell
King Rat by James Clavell
Battle Royale (don't know who did it)
Jurassic Park
Vampire Hunter D series

Yeah, it's a chick book... I personally hate it, even though I have never read it, because fangirls of the series and the upcoming movie bug the s**t out of me
The Sword of Truth series by Terry Goodkind is a good fantasy series. It will take you a while to read the entire series though. Each book is fairly long and there are twelve books in the series.bededog
That was my recomendation hehe
1) Hitman by Rex Feral
2) Serious Sam Official Strategy Guide Official Strategy Guide by Michael Lummis of BradyGames
3) United States-Vietnam Relations, 1945-1967: A Study Prepared by the Department of Defense
4) A Brief History of Time by Stephen William Hawking
5) "The Age of Murder and Storm" which is about Norse Mythus and Ragnarok, the end of the Viking world with a terrible winter that covered the Earth in ice. Also, I like light reading material such as "Necronomicon", "Witchcraft", and "Paradise Lost". Old exotic titles like "Malleus Maleficarum" and "Deumbrarum Regninoyem Portis"... Books with pentagrams on their covers. All dealing with the Occult and the infernal lying between stacks of horror videos and a couple of Ouija boards

Gods & Generals, Lords of the Bow (it's about the rise of Genghis Khan), The Outsiders, Brave New World, the Giver.
Blindness by Jose Saramago. I'm pretty sure they're making a movie about it, the book is amazing.
[QUOTE="Atheos-Arkhaios"]Watership Down
Crime & Punishment
Atlas Shrugged
The God Delusion

That's next on my "to read" list.
It's great, but kind of hard to get through for me. I'm a little over halfway but I've been reading it forever, I can't wait to be down kind of so I can start a different story haha. But it's still a great book!
Cross by james patterson is a good book konvikt_17
yeah patterson is a good author but start with the first in the cross series ( the name is eluding me right now but cross is like the 11th or 12 book in the series)
the jester by patterson is a really good book
Crichton's "Next"
Just finished it, loved it, great critique on everything involving gene therapy and patenting today. Liked the story too, interesting stuff.

It's really 2 or 3 stories going at once. Most of the subplots are intertwined and come together at the very end. Others, like that Gordon character and the researcher who gave experimental gene therapy to his brother and family friends, are involved in a second plot running in the background. Then there are a couple minor chapters that show future legal problems that could arise from genetics (suing parents for "defective genes" and losing life/health insurance for being at risk for certain illnesses).
All the plots put a light on the issues America (and the world) is currently having with gene therapy and gene patenting. The book is a critique on that.
It isn't a book you can stop reading for more than a day or two without forgetting the subplots and characters.

Isn't that from max payne?
Catch 22 - Joseph Heller
American Gods - Neil Gaimen
Good Omens - Neil Gamen and Terry Pratchet
The Relic - Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child
Book of the Gods 1 and 2 - Fred Saberhagen
Ilium and The Terror - Dan Simmons
Lummox - Mike Magnuson
House of Leaves - Mark Danielewski
and Amaerican Psycho, The Stranger, Hitchhikers Trilogy as stated.
Sword of Truth is good for the first 3 books or so, after that they do too much recapping in each book. And the ending was just aggrivating, I just kept reading it because I didn't want to wonder what I missed if I stopped midway.
