[QUOTE="Bobby_Oz"]Ibanez ftw. Gibsons are overrated pieces of ****darcom1
so your choice is ...... ?
For starter players Ibanez RG EX2
I currently own the EX 4 series, and a Steve Vai JEM 7.
The EX4 has the same setup as the EX2 though it has a Floyd Rose, which is not for people who are just starting out. You can also get the EX2 in a reverse neck model too

lol Thanks, about 10 years now. I dont know any tabs, never had formal lessons, all by ear.
I take it yoiu have played an acoustic as your first? If not, I really recommend learning on one....gets your fingers hardened up. It may seem tough but better in the long run...
...or, if you just wanna go electric, Epiphone do some great stuff ie the Les Paul Special II

Back in highschool id play for about 5 hours a day. These days we jam out on Fridays, starting a band, got a few demo tracks here. I really hate callign it practice, that makes it work. I play, and thats all I really want to think of it as.
I concur. Play acoustic for a month or two an dthen when you get an electric the strings will feel heavenly light.I take it yoiu have played an acoustic as your first? If not, I really recommend learning on one....gets your fingers hardened up. It may seem tough but better in the long run...

good choice the EX2 it has a nice weight to
Beginner...
Fender Stratocaster (with a wammy bar haha) or a Telocaster. Both of these guitars will be able to play any genre of music, there also great for beginners ( varying price..) or you could get a Squire.
A Ibanez JEM 7 steve via singed. ( expensive but cool.)
A Gibson les paul studio... they are not garbage, the epiphones are. They are $800 and are pretty much a uglier version of the Gibson les paul standered. (the studio's dont have the bindings.)
Or you could get a Jackson. They are great guitars but i dont know to much about them. (even though i have one :/)
[QUOTE="r_e_l_i_e_n_t"]what about a les paul special edition II

Stay away from ANYTHING owned by Gibson. They are the Fords of the guitar world, pieces of ****
why? How crappy could they be if so many people play them? Gibson player.....

Ibanez players.....

I dont care if you like ibanez (so do i) but dont call gibson the ford of the guitar world. Also do you own one, or ever owned one?
Also you still need a amp....
Ive got that guitar. Its a good, well priced guitar for beginners.http://www.gibson.com/products/epiphone/inst/Electrics/ENJR.html
grate for beginners

One word for starter guitar, VINTAGE, very good. People hve said almost as good as LES PAULS but at about 1/6 of price.
Only problem for you is that they are British, http://www.jhs.co.uk/vintageelectric.html
Though am sure you could get one over in the states. There are a few models i think the V6 ICON (i think)is the one to get. Although they do a standard and advanced version for this model. The advanced model is the one to get, though i dont see it on that page.

Ive owned two, and SG and a 63' Les Paul. I took the SG to a miter saw, waste of money. Its a piece of **** and is in a fad. Just like MAC's, overrated, overhyped, complete crap.
