Because I am beyond tired of watching people's religious beliefs being trampled on. I was going to answer you with "it should be obvious", but then I realized who I was responding to.
Interestingly, I remember one site (I think it was ScotusBlog) suggesting that Obama could get around this basically by having the government cover contraceptive coverage. Boy would that piss off the social cons lol

How are religious believes being trampled on? Nobody is forcing you to use a condom if you don't want to.

Well if people were forcing their beliefs on others (excluding muslims, which seem to do it everyday), we would have a conversation, now wouldn't we.

"The court stressed that its ruling applies only to corporations that are under the control of just a few people in which there is no essential difference between the business and its owners."
So I guess larger corporations would have to go back and fight for it

Good for them for standing strong on this issue and winning. It'll be interesting to see all the backlash now from the liberal media on this one.

how does that work? who gets to decide a corporations religion? does it have to be published in public filings? can a closely held corporation claim religious persecution at being coerced to pay taxes? claim religious persecution at being coerced to follow minimum wages laws? follow federal / state regulations regarding worker safety? etc...

Honestly, so sick of groups spouting "religious freedom!" when they, at the drop of a hat, would be more than willing to suppress the religious beliefs they don't agree are right. Religion should be a personal practice, it should stay out of the government and the office. If the insurance you provide covers contraceptives than so be it. You offer the coverage, and what your employees do with it at home is their business; just like if at home you worship a deity that wants to send people to burn in hell just for loving someone of their own sex should be your own business and not others.

I wonder if I can use religious believes as an excuse to not pay taxes as I don't approve of them being spent on war.

Umm, what? Are you insinuating that someone who attends private school can't be part of the working class? Because, if so, you're sadly mistaken. I went to Catholic school my whole life and my family was and always has been part of the working middle class. Hell, I even worked summers through high school to help pay for my tuition. Way to stereotype and make generalizations that ALL kids who attend private school are rich/upper class. That couldn't be further from the truth. Believe it or not, some parents actually want a better life for their children and work hard to put them thru private schools for this reason.
Still don't know how a company can claim to be religious...
Also Don't understand why insurance would have to pay for women to be on the pill...
NOW there is women who take birth control pills for other reasons(cramping, acne, pms, etc) than just birth control. Those people should be able go doctor to get doctors ok and then insurance should be forced to pay for it.

going to private school means someone isn't working class? That's absurd. My parents are working class and both my sister and I attended private school. the parochial school we attended wasn't that expensive, tuition was only about $2,500 or so when I went and about $3,000 by the time my sister graduated. My high school was $8,000 a year, but they had a good financial aid program so we probably only paid half that (a little more though during my freshman year since I didn't get as much financial aid that year - I think the freshman class is the largest and at that point the school doesn't know your behavioral and academic record).
Hey amazon, what religious have been trampled on
Google is your friend, try using it. I didn't post this thread to have to educate OT users and I am not going to either. Here, let me get you started Google Search
Here are some facts that can help to shed some clarity on this case:
1. It wasn't just Hobby Lobby. Conestoga Wood was also a plaintiff in this case.
2. Both Hobby Lobby and Conestoga Wood are family-owned corporations they are not publicly-traded. Hence the Supreme Court's ruling that these companies are covered under the Religious Freedom Restoration Act. Essentially the court ruled that these businesses are extensions of their owners.
3. Some have claimed that Hobby Lobby didn't want to cover contraceptives. Hobby Lobby does cover contraceptives, it covers 16 out of 20. Hobby Lobby's objection is to abortion, hence it does not cover the other four drugs and devices because they can cause an early abortion by preventing implantation (or in the case of ella even working after implantation).
Yet Hobby Lobby spends all this time worrying about this issue, when yet again, their products are made by people who are modern day slaves.
If they wanted their religious convictions to be used in their life's pursuit, the founders should have pursued a religious career of some sort. They are in the secular world of economics, they should have to abide by that.

Maybe the private schools are different in the UK than in the U.S.
I went to Catholic school from Pre-K to 12th grade and both schools were not very expensive. I think most of the people in my elementary school were working class. In high school there were some very rich people, but I think most people were average. The high school had a good financial aid program, the school was able to raise in excess of $100,000 to support the financial aid each year I was there (we got three days off from school for meeting the goal).

Thats the show. the character always complains about the hardship of working class life despite being middle class. He's basically a self centred hypocrite.
In the UK the average a private school costs is about £12,153 ($20,784) a year. Considering that is almost halve as much as the average full time pay in the UK. You can see why those school are seen as something for the privileged.

My high school was $8,000 a year, but they had a good financial aid program so we probably only paid half that (a little more though during my freshman year since I didn't get as much financial aid that year - I think the freshman class is the largest and at that point the school doesn't know your behavioral and academic record).
No you could be working class and in private school. It's very unlikely but it could happen. However I wasn't talking about you, I was referring to people like Rick from the Young ones. Jasean and Amazon seem to be right wing versions of him.
Is this what you mean by Rick from the Young Ones: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Young_Ones_(TV_series)? I hadn't heard of it before, I had to look it up. I think "The Young Ones" might not be well known outside of the UK.
Interesting. Generally in the U.S. secular private schools are pretty expensive and mostly rich people, but religious schools are fairly affordable. I think in Connecticut the average Catholic school tuition is less than $4,000, while the average cost to the taxpayer for each public school student is $12,000.

So what does OT think of this (Incoming excessive crying in 1...2...3)?
I am glad they won.
why are you glad?
Because I am beyond tired of watching people's religious beliefs being trampled on. I was going to answer you with "it should be obvious", but then I realized who I was responding to.
How are religious believes being trampled on? Nobody is forcing you to use a condom if you don't want to.
lol at you for thinking I am actually going to carry on a conversation with you.
HahaHAHAHALOLLOOLL!! For real! Who would think that you would converse with people posting in your thread!?
OP is very much like those people who claim to be working class despite going to private school.
wut.

Didn't you know the whole point in a debate is so that you can have lots of people who agree with you.
OP is very much like those people who claim to be working class despite going to private school. He thinks his rights are being trampled on yet can't give a single example. He's as privileged as one can get and he's too stupid to realise it.
going to private school means someone isn't working class? That's absurd. My parents are working class and both my sister and I attended private school. the parochial school we attended wasn't that expensive, tuition was only about $2,500 or so when I went and about $3,000 by the time my sister graduated. My high school was $8,000 a year, but they had a good financial aid program so we probably only paid half that (a little more though during my freshman year since I didn't get as much financial aid that year - I think the freshman class is the largest and at that point the school doesn't know your behavioral and academic record).

We have religious state schools here.
