Most people who identify themselves as Christians never actually took the time to study their own religion.

It really doesn't surprise me. Lots of Christians really aren't true Christians now-a-days anyway...Honestly it's really quite a shame..

What a shame.

I much prefer Christians who mix with old age beliefs. Christian Paganism FTW!!

Eh, I sort of do this deliberately. I'm a Christian, but I practice mindfulness, and I meditate in the Buddhist style regularly. None of what I do goes against Christian beliefs, so I don't see the problem.

I don't really like the concept of Religion, even though my beliefs pertain to Christianity. I don't like going to Church, so I just practice my faith on my own time. I read the Bible and books about God and stuff, but I really cannot stand going to Church.

i take it as a sign that Christianity is dying. of course, pure Christianity was 6 foot under a long time ago.

Actually some of the things the priest says in response makes a lot of sense. Also a lot of Christians (and people of other faiths) don't necessarily think about their faith - the don't think about (1) what it means to be a Christian and (2) why are they a Christian in the first place. I would like to see what those numbers are for America as a whole.

I'm sorry, but that's a lie. While it definitely isnt popular and there are relatively few pure Christians, they are out there. Maybe in America its rare, but in other countries its more common place. Pure Christianity has ALWAYS been here.

While I don't believe in god, I have no problems with the "christians that do". Seems like many of you posters have a lot of anger and hatred toward that particular group. I'd just let it go and live your life. Not a good thing to hate particular religions, races, ethncities, etc. Just makes you a biggot, and that's usually not a good thing.

That's a testament to how the faith is evolving. It's transformed into a shoebox faith. By that, I mean that you only bring it out when you need it. That's what the concept of Yahweh has become in a lot of cases. He's no longer about justice-- he's a god of the gaps who just wants to make you happy.

I can't help but wonder if that's an insult.

I'm not worried, because this is nothing new.

I'm not worried because God does not require us nor will the Gospel be hindered by false teachings. However, I do believe this integration of faiths is wrong and untrue.
