i could swim 4 styles- frontcrawl, butterfly, backstroke and breaststroke
but havent swum in years (its been about 10 years now i think since i learnt all this by the time i reached the 5th grade )
For some reason, I'm not particularly good with the crawl and sucked really bad with the butterfly. The breast stroke is the easiest swimming style for me.
I'm also used to relaxing my body so much I can lie at the surface with almost no movement. That means I can snorkel at the surface all day looking down at the (shallow) sea/river bed although I imagine that'll give me a really nasty sunburn on my back. The wrinkles from staying too long on water wouldn't help either.
I like to dive. But, it's mostly the swan dive. Even with the lowest diving board, I'm airborne so long it with arms outstretched it feels like I'm flying. It's like an intoxicating high. By the time I hit the water, I'm either halfway across the pool or past it. Needless to say, I put my full weight on the diving board.
My first swimming lesson was when I was 8 years old and we were vacationing at the Far East. My dad (old-school navy) and I were tuna fishing at the South China Sea. He told me he was going to teach me how to swim. Lesson 1 was him throwing me bodily into the sea and yelling, "Swim!".
I'm a surfer so of course I can swim. I might do the lifeguard course for fun this year just to give me something else to stick on my CV (isn't a lot on it qualifications wise).
I don't go swimming for fun mind, I surf, swimming is like paddling and paddling is just the bit of surfing you got to do to get to the good bits.
I can swim well. My only disadvantage at the moment (for last last few years) is that I'm not at all in shape... no muscle, but no fat to float. I used to be able to tread water well, but now I could probably only last for a few minutes.
A summer or two ago I tried swimming across a lake. I made it, but didn't want to risk swimming back, so I walked out of the beach, down the street, along the edge of a roundabout, up another street, and back to the grassy area where my friends were.
I think people found a wet kid wearing nothing but swim shorts walking on a roundabout, relatively in a city, strange. :P
I'm going to Burmuda later this year, so I'll hopefully swim and get in shape :D
I can't. Most people find it kind of surprising,as I live in Florida, a place with lots of pools and beaches (I live near the east coast).
i can do front crawl, sculling and i can dive off the diving board thingies (i can do single frontflips :D)but for somereason, i can't sink if i try swimming underwater i just kinda float up lolSorry for the title, but they kept being taken.
I can, but only on the surface. I was never good at diving. It's also been a long time since I've swam, so I'm wondering if I'll still remember how to, just in case I'm ever on a boat that sinks or something.

Kept being taken? Swimming titles in hot demand this winter? lol Yah I swim well and feel comfortable in water...though in the middle of the ocean surrounded by sharks....eh...quadraleapYep, it was "can you swim?" Taken. "Do you know how to swim?" Taken. "Are you able to swim?" Taken... :(
Yeah. Been swimming since I was in diapers, basically.
Can swim very well (basically any style), tread water (just arms/just legs), and dive...
i'm a pretty strong swimmer. i can probably beat most people in a race (normal swimming, none of those weird strokes or whatever), unless they are on like swim teams and stuff, then they're probably better than me.
