Obviously, if the government is this heavily involved. Theyre tracking it with the same methods as they do hurricanes. So now it's a crisis? Come on. Calm down.

Well i'm in the UK and it is a top story even though 3 people have it and are being treated well. I understand it is more of a concern in North America but I don't think it is at crisis point yet.

I lol'd at the topics.
Wow people are really overreacting. There had been like what, 20 cases in the US? The 1300 and 81 deaths came from Mexico in areas that have no where near the hospitals, treatments and sanitation we have. CDC says just us basic flu prevention againest it like washing your hands and what not, I dont think there is any reason to flip out yet, I mean Avion bird flu was supposed to be the end of us all, and look what happened there.SaintLeonidas
The 81 deaths and 1300 affected did have hospitals, they were from Meixco City and San Luis Potosi, i live a bit north and let me tell you it's quite scary.

What Im saying is they arent the level of most in the USMexican doctors are saying that the crisis is much worse than what the media is saying.
Joe Biden once said within 6 months, Obama is going to have to face a crisis like Kennedy did.
If this isn't a good reason to shut down the borders now, then our country is truly doomed.
I heard the really serious cases have been in Mexico. We have good medicine and hospitals here in the US so we should be okay as long as people follow health guidelines.
Oh wow, people are overracting soo much to this. No wonder parents are getting more and more over protective about their kids. I honestly cannot stand overprotective parents.
Anyway, the cases that have been reported in countries that have a proper healthcare system are being treated fine. The only reason why there are cases in various places is because of people going on vacation to mexico, it is a very popular place for people from everywhere.
STOP OVERREACTING.
Thank you. I read last night that there were 11 cases. All were treated fine and healthy. People need to CHILL and read up it a bit more instead of just reading headlines.Oh wow, people are overracting soo much to this. It's too soon to tell, but with the way things have been going, generally positive in the United States, I'm not worried about it.I agree with whoever said it. this things gonna get worse.
Neo-ganon
Every time stuff like this happens everyone screams and cries about it but no one looks at the big picture. That being the countries where the most people die from the disease are usually poor and the people who die are usually the poorest of the poor.
So everyone can go cry and hide about this but even me, a mild germophobe, doesn't care because chances are it will not effect me in such a way that I will die or even come close to death,

For some reason, I don't think its a valid enough reason to close the borders. We have already been infected so any attempt to quarantine ourselves is redundant. Anyway, the disease itself isn't that deadly. It has about a 5% mortality rate and most those who died lived in areas where health careisn't readily accessible. To add to that, we have readily available medication for flus like this. It does not make anysense that the borders should be closed because of this.

I'm not too worried about this situation either, but I don't think any Mexicans should be coming into the country at the moment. That's just a bit careless. Don't over blow the situation, but don't treat it like it's nothing either.well usually it means the parents love their child. How dare they...Oh wow, people are overracting soo much to this. You've been reading the media too much. The media is only reporting a 5% mortality rate (around 80 deaths) but Mexican doctors are saying it's 10 times worse than that - some say the deaths are reaching in the mid-thousands.
The media is trying to play this cool for now, until it turns full pandemic (the Spanish Flu Epidemic of 1918 usually went with people aged 20-50, the same as this flu. This is going to get REALLY bad soon).

We probably have several people here already infected depending on the incubation time on this flu. So there's no real point in closing down the borders. If anything, closing down the borders might cause people to start panicking.

Can you link me to this information? Seriously I don't trust anyone, Mexican doctors could very well be saying that, but that doesn't mean the deaths are 100% swine flu related. And again, Mexico = substandard everything almost. Even someone who has vacationed in Cancun can tell you that.Just like SARs, the media is blowing this completely out of proportion.
Unless you're immunocompromised or elderly, you have nothing to worry about from pig flu. Also keep in mind that people in Mexico are poorly educated, living in filth, and have craptastic medical care, hence all the deaths.

Bringing in more people who do carry the flu most certainly adds to the problem.[QUOTE="AHUGECAT"]

IF the cases ARE the most critical with people aged 20 to 50 - then the virus bears a similarity to the influenza virus of 1918; it also had the most devastating effect on young-middle-aged adults because it would turn a strong immune system against itself.
Here Joe Biden says Obama is going to be tested in his first 6 months in office: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IpiNfuG8YY8
Colin Powell also said something similar.
My question is - are you ready? The next few weeks are NOT going to be pretty, I can tell you that.
This flu might just be the final nail in the coffin for this dying country.

If anything, the media is hiding it out of proportion - considering there have been 3 times as many deaths as they claim.
And many that died died in hospitals, and Mexico City has some of the best hospitals in the world.
