System War versus Off Topic

I have observed a particular arrogance and distaste towards SW here and I have to wonder why that is so, for I fail to see how OT is any better than SW. In SW, we have passionate people arguing over consoles, games, technology, and so on. In OT we have passionate people arguing over religion, sexuality, films, and so on. The topics may differ, but the premise is the same. Both boards have trolls. Both boards have decent posters. What is so different about SW that causes OTers to come across as arrogant when SW is mentioned? I find this especially interesting considering how we are on a gaming website.

I like both forums, so meh. Both can certainly get crazy.

I personally think system wars is worse just because IMO it has more fanboys and has less relevant subject material.

Arguing over what console is better is insanely stupid.

SW is black and white (maybe grey-scale), whereas OT is colourful and occasionally interesting.

edit - Well I have interest in games but not typically the ones they fight about on System Wars. I mostly just play JRPG's and that does come up on System Wars but not that often.

Well i find that on OT people can normally at least semi backup their opinion with facts. On SW people dont listen to reason at all.

Arguing over consoles is laughable, but OT is much more fierce in its debates and arguments and things can get real ugly.dramaybaz

What matters most should be what you find more enjoyable. If it's arguing over which console is better then SW is the place to be, but if it's over relevant daily topics OT is where it's at. Through my time on GS, which is longer than what meets the eye, I've found SW's to be boring and predictable. While OT is almost always able to surprise me. Yes the topics can be a bit predictable in OT, but the comments made can be a real treat.

But on a serious note SW is kinda boring right now. But that will change very soon.

And to the people saying fighting over consoles is dumb same could be said for fighting over reglion.. and we do have people with brains.
