So today I am headed over to the DMV to take test for my driving learner's permit. I'd like to say I'm not nervous, but then I would be lying. I've looked over the practice test and the questions listed were asking about road signs that in all of my years I have never even heard of. On the other hand, my 18 year old sister assures me that this is somewhat of a scare tactic and that the real test is actually a cake walk.

I should also mention that I have to get my permit today, because tomorrow driver's ed. starts and this requires a permit. Unfortunatly the test for this permit isn't a test of your driving skill, if that was the case I would do pretty well. With the practice driving I've been doing with my dad I have really gotten the hang of being behind the will. Too bad this does not apply.

Does anyone have any advice? Help is always appreciated.

Look all around behind you when you back up, don't just use the mirrors. Relax, never panic. Never show fear.... they can smell your fear....

You don't drive for the permit test. You take a multiple choice test. The questions on the practice test were very vague and pertained to signs and rules that in my 16 years I have never heard of or seen.

The multiple choice part is really easy, most of the time you just have to use common sense on the questions. But with the signs, just study them, it's fairly easy, I hardly studied for it and I got about 85% of it right. Just imagine what the pictures could be. Look online for road signs.

Yeah, that is my plan. Some of the questions were pretty ridiculous asking about the letter and background color of hazard signs.

LOL! That's my problem right now. I am taking driver's ed, and my instructor is a smoking hot soccer mom with soccer ball sized boobies. Hard to remember to turn your blinkers on when you already have those blinkers taking up your rear view mirror...

If you head off to your local dmv they should have a book they give out for free that contains all the things you need to know for the test (road signs, vehicle types etc) the test is pretty easy and you shouldn't have any problems with it if you know most of the signs in the book...also, if you can't see too well you should also carry your glasses/wear contancts since you'll have to take an eye sight test...

Don't worry too much about it...it's easy as long as you're prepared, and by the sound of it you probably are.

I have 20/20, I don't need to worry about the eyesight. Thanks for the advice everyone, I'll take it to heart.

Well, drive like you use to son!

You've had your fair share of driving, and (hopefully) nothing has happened. So drive the way you use to drive, don't think much about the instructor.

I'm getting my G1 today! (Ontario Learners Permit)

Good luck, take some online tests. The sign and rules are really easy if you study, getting perfect is not out of the question!
