www.nypost.com/news/weirdbuttrue/weirdbuttrue.htm

A Wisconsin family has filed a $50,000 claim against a middle school because a teacher sent their daughter to a "timeout" room.

The experience caused the girl to hyperventilate and feel nauseous, according to the formal complaint made against the Greenfield School District.

Wow, as if controlling children in classroom was bad enough.

Also from article:

Mullets may be out of style, but they're still a sign of old times - and the sign keeps getting stolen.

Officials in Green Bay, Wis., keep having to replace the street sign for Mullet Place.

"We've gone through a lot of Mullet Place signs," said Chris Pirlot of the city Public Works Department.

"My only guess is that people are still in love with the '70s and '80s . . . I don't know."

Article

Heh, I guess that's the name of the street that never had a sign. I've lived in the Green Bay area all my life and I was wondering about that.

EDIT: Oh yeah, the kid probably had claustrophobia.

There is not enough information in the link. Maybe there was something wrong (health-wise) in the timeout room? I'm sure the teacher would've let her out if she was about to puke.

God, i HATTEEEE how teachers arent allowed to have ANY sort of power or discipline rights in the classroom anymore. No wonder why there are a lot of dropouts and bad grades. Kids can do what they want and go unpunished. It seems like teachers are getting punished more nowadays than the kids are. Personally, i think if a kid gets out of line they should be kicked out of school right away. It is a privilage to go to school and many kids around the world are too poor and would give anything just to get the chance to go. Teachers NEED to be given more disciplinary rights and power.

Edit: I did not read the link, but im just stating what I think. Cause there are other cases too.

Someone really needs to read outside the thread title - the child got sick in that room, and it's the school getting sued, not the teacher.

Maybe it's like the boondocks, how Riley had to replace his street sign from "timid deer" because it's not "gansta" enough

Kind of reminds me of the time when Bellevue (Green Bay suburb) had a letter changed on its water tower by some really good vandals and it was "Hellevue".

I hope the family gets turned down. If the child was acting up then punishment was needed.

This lawsuit will most likely be dropped. Oh, if it was in the weird but true stories, I am inclided for this lawsuit to be blasphemy, despite the lack of information.
