i agree. he's a kid. he needs therapy. not 158 years. it's hilarious when a rapist doesn't get life in prison but a cat killer does. good ol' judicial system.

Ayup. While what he did was absolutely horrible and I personally would love to deal him his fair share, he's going to be broken in in jail, and it's exactly what he deserves.

This is usually the first sign of a serial kiler, he should watched closely. 158 Years is typical American overkill though, lol.

Nor do you, so simply saying "give him therapy" won't solve anything. Psycho-analyze the kid, try therapeutic methods, but he still has to pay his dues. It is all too often that people are given therapy, then say "**** that" later and go ballistic, just like the guy that decapitated that teen on the Greyhound bus lines. He was "rehabilitated", but he stopped taking his meds, nothing was done, and an innocent kid gets carved up infront of 30 some other people.

I find it very hypocritical that strangling chickens or mutilating cows is normal, while doing the same to cats is considered a crime (i'm not advocating what the teenager did, I am angered by this much as anyone else).

Then confine him to a mental institution for life. The fact that someone is sentenced for a longer duration than they'll live is idiotic, I'll say that much, but people who are shown to be psychologically insecure and have extreme violent and sadistic tendencies shouldn't be out on the streets after a mere year.

Again, boils down to the psychology. I'd still visit him and love him the same, but if he was bent on only causing pain to others and killing, then society shouldn't have to deal with that threat.

This happened in my area, so I knew about this a while ago. Still, this kid is messed up and should be put to death. There is no justification for what he is done other than a bloodlust and that is the first sign of a serial killer.

SSBFan12

He ubducted these animals from people's yards. Do you realize what he did to them? He didn't just kill them, he mutilated them and left them on their owner's doorsteps. I live in the area where this happened and many people were fearing he would come for kids next. Get out of your box, this isn't a sane man, he's a killer.

How is strangling chickens and mutilating cows normal?

If you are talking about the meat industry... well they behead the animals. And there is a purpose other than inflicting pain and suffering.

The situation isn't so black and white though, it's the intent behind the actions. If it turns out this kid has schizophrenia or some other disorder that caused this feat, then rehabilitation would be the response, albeit it should be extensive and gradual. If he did it for mere pleasure, then there is generally a higher probability he will lash out without any harbinger. As for the meat industry, it's supply and demand. So long as people don't care about where their food comes from, it will continue as so because the majority of society wishes products to be cheaper and labour processes to be swifter. In this situation though, the reasoning is still up in the air.

I'm pretty furious about him killing animals as well, since I love them and think it's absolutely sick that people like him are out there in this world - but I also think it's ridiculous that he's pretty much getting life in prison for killing animals... Whereas people who commit worse crimes would not usually get such a ruling.

Least they could do is pull A Clockwork Orange on him and send him to a mental institute for a couple of years.

[QUOTE="jointed"][QUOTE="Setsa"] Then confine him to a mental institution for life. The fact that someone is sentenced for a longer duration than they'll live is idiotic, I'll say that much, but people who are shown to be psychologically insecure and have extreme violent and sadistic tendencies shouldn't be out on the streets after a mere year.super_mario_128
For life? Forget it. Society is getting more and more hypocritical by the day. Have you seen how animals are treated at slaughterhouses all ever the US and in other western countries? There's no way this kid's life should be destroyed, whilst those who kills millions of animals in even crueler ways walks free. I'm against any such punishment, but if you're going to punish people for violating the law, at least be consistent.

Oh c'mon, there's a massive difference. Do you see tigers killing out of sadism?

Ok, enlighten me, what difference constitutes him being looked away for 158 years and them getting payed for doing pretty much the same thing but with different intent?

158 years is a bit overkill. Just a tad. Seriously though... 158 years? I would throw him into jail for a few years and keep him under close surveillance, that's all.
