"The sentence should send a message to all criminals that this type of criminal activity will not be tolerated in Spartanburg County,"

Linder's sentences will run consecutively and must serve 85 percent of the sentence before he is eligible for release

Something doesnt seem right here....

"According to Principal Deputy Solicitor Barry Barnette, 19-year-old Cory Demond Linder pleaded guilty to three counts of first-degree burglary, one count of second-degree burglary, two counts of armed robbery and one count of possession of a pistol during a violent crime.

Barnette said Circuit Judge J. Mark Hayes II sentenced Linder to three 40-year sentences on the first degree burglary charges, two 30-year sentences for the armed robbery charges, a 15-year sentence for the second-degree burglary charge and another year-long sentence on the possession charge."

Makes sense...

I feel so bad for him for, you know, breaking the law many times and then admitting his guilt. He should be exonerated.

Sure, it may not be fair. But as long as the punishment given doesn't exceed the limits established for particular crimes, I'm fine with it. One less punk.

Well we can look at it this way:

Obliviously he deserved to serve time I mean robbery and armed robbery are serious. that being said, his entire life is over. He has no chance to make up for his actions and he might as well be dead because while he may be a criminal and not normally have my sympathy what was taken from him was alot worse than what he took from those people he robbed.

Also he is only 19. He is still young enough to probably be effectivly rehabilitaded andhave a second chance at leading a good life. Obliviously alot of criminals may repeat crimes after they get out of prision or rehabilitation but this kid at least deserves a chance, or at least a reasonable enough sentece so that he can hopefully become a productive member of society when hes free.

He wasw a robber he only took possesions yet as punishment they essentially ended his. He may be a terrible person and just some dumb punk who wont learn but we dont know that and everyone deserves a fair punishment to the crime and IMO this is in no way fair. Jail time yes. The rest of his life in prison; no.

My opinion is that a majority of criminals are never rehabilitated even if they have the capability because of the way prisons are being administered these days, especially someone with that long of a list of crimes perpetrated. Just my opinion.

Well, it's a bunch of separate crimes. That's how the legal system works. More crimes add more time. Nothing especially out of the ordinary here. Also, he's a legal adult so the fact that he's a teen isn't particularly relevant.

It does annoy me that there are violent offenders who get off with less time, but again, it's because of the multiple convictions. Besides, he was armed and that is indicative of what his intentions might have been, had he had a confrontation during these crimes.

I doubt all you who feel sorry for him would be saying that if you were one of his victims.

He had a gun during his robberies, meaning he would have killed someone if given the chance.

 Well, whenever one can actually at least consistently pass the Turing test, they can get to working on that. ;)
