Anyways, that is pretty awesome IMO. Pretty smart on the kids part.

Running away from home so you can live in a store doesn't ring up "smart" in my mental register, but okay. >_>
If you run to a friends house or family members house you will get returned home quickly. Running away to a store or random place like that is smart because it gives you a much better chance at not being found.
reminds me of that story where a dude spent a week or so in Walmart.

Yeah, I remember that, because I was working at Wal-Mart when that happened. And the thing is...it was perfectly legal, because it was a 24-hour Wal-Mart. Since they are always open to the public, there's nothing at all stopping someone from living there.
Edit: Well, I kind of take that back; eventually I'd imagine security would ask him to leave, but it wouldn't be a legal thing.
That's actually kinda sad in a way...that he'd rather do that instead of be at home. Although when I was younger, I always wondered what it would be like if i could hideout and spend the night in a huge mall or something. Never tried it though haha :P
