A great story I figured I would share.

Two teenage boys are being hailed as heroes after they chased a car carrying a kidnapped girl -- on their bicycles.

Five-year-old Jocelyn Rojas was playing in her front yard in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, when she vanished Thursday afternoon. Authorities believe she was abducted by a man who lured her by offering ice cream.

For two hours, neighbors and police scoured the area and asked if anyone had seen her.

Temar Boggs, 15, and his friend took off on their bicycles to search.

About a half-mile away, they spotted Jocelyn in a sedan. But the driver was elusive.

"Every time we'd go down the street, he'd turn back around, and then ... we'll follow him," Temar told CNN affiliate WGAL.

The two teens chased the alleged kidnapper on their bikes for 15 heart-pounding minutes. The driver apparently knew he was being followed and gave up.

"He stopped at the end of the hill and let her out, and she ran to me and said that she needed her mom," Temar said.

CNN

We could all use a happy story. If you read the whole article you can tell the kidnapper was a total pedo.

If this is old news I apologize.

Man, thanks for sharing. This is truly a miracle, and those boys should be recognized and thanked and if possible rewarded. I know I would be in debt to that young man as a father of a 3 year old girl myself.

Not that I'm complaining, obviously, but why didn't the kidnapper just go to some major road/freeway to get away? It seems weird that he'd just stay in the neighborhood going back and forth

Saw this on my local news a few days.

I want those kids in my neighborhood looking after my kid!

That's how it used to be back when I was a kid - everyone looked out for each other and if something sinister was up, the whole neighborhood would respond immediately.

He probably lived in the neighborhood and was trying to get home before anyone noticed anything.

Apparently, local news is reporting police roadblocks were set up.  It sounds cool to think the kidnapper gave up because of the teens, but it was more likely he gave up because of the cops.  CNN is twisting some of the details a bit to make a better story.

I would say it was a combination of the two. The kids on bikes can cut between houses whereas the guy in the vehicle was restricted to streets unless he made his own roads between houses.

Don't get me wrong the teens should be applauded regardless for being selfless & taking time out of their day to track the girl down.

...but based on Oleg's post it sounds like it's less "the teens forced the guy to give up the kid" and more "the guy knew he was trapped and couldn't escape due to police blockades so he let the kid go".

Well, there are. They were either raised wrong or have a mental problem. I'm a firm believer that perfectly normal people are incapable of such actions.

But then again, he still got away.  I am wondering why the guy stayed so close to the point of kidnapping for all this time (two hours, supposedly), then somehow still got away if there were roadblocks up.

Heard about this, really nice story. Before they went on their chase, the kids were helping an old lady move furniture into her house I believe. Pretty sad when this gets not attention due to the whole Trayvon thing.

Kind of sucks for the second kid that his parents didn't consent to him being named and such as I really doubt being known as a hero is going to cause a lot of negative reaction.

Not for long, he didn't.  They've already arrested and charged the guy.  It wasn't the hard no-pass kind of roadblocks; it was the kind where police were flagging down passing vehicles.  If the girl wasn't in his car, they had no reason to prevent him from continuing on.  The guy recognized he wasn't getting out of there with the girl, so he decided to get out of there without her.  Maybe instead of roadblocks, "checkpoints" would've been a better description.

I think what I'm doing is over your head. Sorry. Perhaps I should explain. You say a crisis being averted is not something worth celebrating and then misunderstand completely why people celebrate when something bad is averted. As such I comically misunderstood your point as you rather having the crisis happen, in this case pedophilia.

What an amazing story! It's about time people got to the kidanapper before he could do something. How many times have we heard of stories about children being kidnapped and vanshing without any trace.

I hope they catch the S.O.B. and put him in jail for life.

Nope, no ransom here.  It was a pedo.  They've arrested and charged the guy.  Charges include kidnapping and "involuntary deviate sexual intercourse" (translation: fingering in the car?).  The guy has a prior conviction and time served for raping another 5 year-old several years ago.

Agreed. Normal people are not capable of that. People who do shit like that aren't really human beings. Which is why I have no objections whatsoever to them being punished with death. Even though the guy let her go before actually doing anything, I'd say give him the fvcking chair just for trying. We don't need wretched subhuman scum like that breathing our air.

See, THAT is what is fvcking wrong with this shit. Dude was convicted of raping a 5 year old already? Why the hell did he not die in prison? What crooked fvcking pedo-apologists let him out? Rape should come with a mandatory minimum life sentence with no possibility of parole. Death sentence in states that allow it. And child rape like that? Even if it's in a state where they don't have capital punishment, the piece of shit should be shipped to Texas in a crate, so they can do it there.
