The writing is very unsubtle ("purity") and most surprisingly, even for a direct to dvd film, the story is completely under developed. They have 1 gag throughout the whole film. Some of it is unintentionally funny, some of it just gross. I can't believe the girl in it won an award at Sundance Film Festival.

Can't say I'd recommend a movie about a woman with teeth in her cha-cha, but that's just me.

Each to their own. I didn't see it as a comedy, just some 'comedic moments really'.

Hey did you check out my review of Body of Lies I told you about!?

Once I heard what it was about, I knew to avoid it. Seriously, who sat down and thought such an idea was worth making into a film?

How can a comedy be unintentionally funny?

EDIT: It's more or less a movie about the dangers of nuclear energy, as evidenced by the factory (or whatever you call things that run on nuclear whatever) that's always in the background.

EDIT 2: And people are acting as if vagina dentata was a concept created for this movie, and more importantly an intentionally vulgar one.

I think it was good, very dark comedy satire, that was low budget and flew under the radar and seems to be completely misinterpreted by everyone who sees a preview for it. PLus I thought the girl was good, and very funny.

I never said it was a comedy if you were talking to me.

I think I know what you are getting at with the powerplant. Perhaps the Teeth are a result of that. I saw it more as a symbol of something horrific (the plant) in something quite nice and pleasent (the town).

But really they should have illuminated that element more if they wanted to comment on Nuclear energy and warnings.

For some horrible reason I think there will be Teeth 2. It just seems to have been written without giving anything away that would provide more material for a sequel.

And the nuclear energy aspect of it was more or less a subliminal aspect of the film.

I doubt there will be a Teeth 2.

I don't think its a comedy at all. It takes itself very seriously with the religious undertones, the gore is quite visceral.

The Nuclear plant is not prominent enough to draw any real conclusions.

There will be a sequel.

"Teeth is a black comedy film... about a girl who has teeth in her vagina - Wikipedia.

In case Wikipedia isn't credible enough for you, IMDB has the genres of the film listed as "horror" and "comedy." So yes, just because you don't consider it to be a comedy film doesn't mean it isn't a comedy film. It just means that you have no sense of humor.

That's the point. Maybe I'm defending it because it made much more sense to me, but the point of the movie was that you don't know where the vagina dentata came from. It could've been from the nuclear power plant, or it could've been something else. It's all apart of the urban legend.

There will be no sequel, but of course I can't prove it.

Also, you mentioned that the film was a straight-to-video release, which is untrue. It had a limited theatrical release.

yeah i think this review put it best "What could have been a one joke film about " dentata" is, in the hands of writer-director Mitchell Lichtenstein, a satirical look at teenage peer pressure and sexuality, and finally, female empowerment"

also:

"This quirky independent film, written and directed by Mitchell Lichtenstein ("Resurrection"), is a darkly comic metaphor for society's fear of female sexuality. "

And the nuclear plant is a small undetone of pollution.

Yeah, so many watch the film or trailer and think its some stupid made up horror film that is trying to be serious. That dentata is an old myth found in many cultures and the film uses it as part of their satire for female sexuality/pollution and other things,

I actually thought it was one of the better films of the year that flew under the radar.

2008 is turning out to be a pretty **** year for movies (or movies that receive a wide theatrical release), so saying that it's one of the best movies of the year isn't saying much.

It's a great movie, though.

yeah other then The Dark Knight and Wall-E, all the other wide releases seem to have all been action/comedies/superhero movies that were sub par, luckily its going into fall and maybe we'll get some really good ones.

Its on Wiki it must be credible. Please don't make it a personal attack on me. Its just a movie. I have a sense of humour. I often use it on Gamespot, those that know me will tell you that sir. But I am entitled to my opinion of the genre discussion as you are.

That's the point. Maybe I'm defending it because it made much more sense to me, but the point of the movie was that you don't know where the vagina dentata came from. It could've been from the nuclear power plant, or it could've been something else. It's all apart of the urban legend.

Good point - the mythology etc. Still very cheap way out, 1 line of dialogue and thats all you have to put in about its existence.

There will be no sequel, but of course I can't prove it.

Okay...lol. I'll uhh trust your judgement. Yeesh..

Also, you mentioned that the film was a straight-to-video release, which is untrue. It had a limited theatrical release.

Excuse me? I find that really belittling and patrionising. Please don't tell me what I *did* and *did not* get. You like it congratulations. I am entitled to say what I want about it.
