I remember as a kid, Santa was supposed to be this magical, mystical guy. Something that stretched my imagination of my innocent youth. Adults seemed to think that it was cute for children to believe in him. Today though, I've noticed a lot of parents don't want their kids believing in Santa. They're starting to say it's creepy.

So, I ask you. If/when you get kids, are you going to tell them about Santa?

Creepy? Give me a break. Santa Claus is fun. I will definitely tell my kids about Santa so that they can have the same great experience I had when I was a kid.

I don't really like the idea of lying to my kids like that, but I remember how much fun the idea of Santa Claus is when you're a kid. I'm kinda torn.

I'll try to convince them he's real. What gentler way to ease them into the wonderful world of lies than have them work that truth out for themselves?

I won't. You're lying to your kids and I don't think that's right.

My parents never tried to lie to me about Santa, and I plan to keep that tradition going forward.

I think most kids figure out Santa isn't real before age 10 anyways. Atleast that was my case and most kids I knew at the time.

If I had a child, I would troll him like no other.

I'd tell him that Santa is real, that premarital sex is bad, and that Jesus....

Its a personal issue, your choice and only yours, if you want fun happy nostalgic years for your kids then let them believe in santa. If not then they'll be more down to earth about disappointments, "Oh its not fair santa didn't bring me what i wanted, why didnt he?!?!"... sort of thing. You won't have an answer will you? If your straight up they'll learn about money and costs and not just mystical fairytales.

Nope. Santa Claus doesn't exist, there's is no conclusive/decisive evidence that Santa exists so I'm not telling my child to believe about that.

I'm telling my kid's santa is real and i'm gonna let them believe it for a while then after about 3 years when they're comfortable with the idea I'm gonna have them thinking he's coming that night while they sleep but instead I'm going to murder our family dog and leave him dead and bleeding under the tree where the toys should be so they're going to come down and see no toys and their dead pet and be really upset/traumatized and i'm going to explain to them that that's what happens some christmas's when they are on the naughty list from being loud and annoying their parents

I would tell my kids Santa is real and a lot of other things. I would mess with their heads, skew the lines between real and fake. I would make them grow up saying the most absurd things to other people while I sit there with my cup, guffawing like the mad old man I will be.

"Kids let me tell you the story of santa clause..." Goes on about saying how he gets gifts to kids on christmas, be good not bad etc.

"But daddy we have no chimeny' (Says my fake child Jules)

"Oh he comes in from the door." I say

"But you always lock the door, and if he brakes in he is trespassing proerty and wouldnt he get arrested?" Juels says.

"No its not trespassing because all parents give him consent to come for our house to give us gifts." I say

"Ok then... But if he gives you any present you want, and if you ask for a 360, won't he get sued by microsoft for copywriting material by making thus said device?" Jules says.

"Ahh well no, because he has money to buy em?" I say

" Where does he get all this money from, from the bank? But banks won't loan to anyone especailly for a guy that lives in the north pole, makes no income and works one day. And also how can he get to all the children in the world in one night? What about differing time zones and ozone?" Jules says.

"Nice way to kill my dreams son, screw it SANTA AINT REAL for get i told u anything!" I say.

"So i still get my 360?" He asks

Yup never tell kids Santa is real, especially if they are more perceptive than you at their age :)

It's not creepy, it's wonderful. I'll let my kids believe until they realize the truth, not ruin it at 7 years old like my dad did for me. It's odd when 7th or 8th grade kids who aren't mentally handicapped still believe in santa though. By the time you're a teen, you should figure out the truth on your own.

I will scientifically prove that there is Santa, or should I say multiple Santas, through series of complex mathematical and physical calculations that will drive me kids crazy so much that they will hate Christmas = no more presents to buy!

I would not get my kids hope up. I mean when I believed in Santa is was magical and what not, but once I realised he was a myth I was a tad bit upset. Im not really the person that enjoys handing out false hope.

I'll tell them about how Santa exists, then once they get older, if they ask me, or I feel that they should know, I'll tell them the truth.

I don't really want to. I mean I don't think it's "creepy" for kids to believe in santa, but I don't find it "cute" either. I just find it to be rather idiotic and completely pointless.
I believed in santa to but considering how awesome it is, how come I don't remember believing him? My mother had to tell me that I did.

I know for a fact that he isn't watching his bedroom and Mrs. Claus when he's out and about.

If I ever have kids, I'd let them believe in him until they found out he wasn't real. Seriously, it's sucking part of the fun out of childhood otherwise.

Yeah, Santa is awesome and duping little kids is practically a Christmas tradition.

I'm going to make sure I do a better job of hiding the truth than my parents though, so that way if I get really mad at my kids I can just yell "Santa isn't real! I put those presents under your tree!"

I was heartbroken when my parents told me santa wasn't real. Of course, I did have a lot of fun with Santa, so I'll probably tell my kids about him, unless my wife has some kind of objection.

I think that great experience had to do more with the presents than the story about Santa Claus. :P I don't think children would care as long as they had gifts waiting under their Christmas tree.

Whats with everyone saying its lying to their kids?

Its a fair tale like story that just lets you have fun imagining that some magical man gives you presents one time a year who works at the North Poll.

I plan to tell my kids! Santa was a great memory for me as a little kid.

Ryan_Kitchen
There's a difference between telling your children a fairy tale and expect them to be entertained by it but understanding it's not real, than to tell your children that fairy tell and make them live their life by it. I definitely won't be telling my children.

It doesn't really matter either way. Chances are that they won't be heartbroken if they still got presents all those years.

If I even HAVE kids, I'm not gonna tell them about Santa, because it's bad enough we're telling our kids lies just to make them happier, but then when they find out it's not true they'll prolly end up pretty sad, and there's at least a good chance of that, and I am not heartless enough to have to have my kid, again if I HAVE one, go through that.
