Terminator Salvation: John Connor

So I watched the latest Terminator Salvation trailer (linky Terminator4 Trailer ) this weekend. And I checked out GameSpot's co-op trailer for the game (co-op would be the only reason why I'd rent the game): T4 Game Co-Op Trailer

And I got to thinking; Why the heck isn't Edward Furlong playing John Connor? You remember 'ol Eddie from T2:

Not that I'm complaining that Batma......err Christian "Don't Interupt Me" Bale is now mankind's post-apocalyptic general in T4:

But really, why would Ed Furlong pass up this opportunity? Terminator Salvation would obviously be his biggest project in a (very) long time. I could understand not wanting to be type-casted if he was still young, but Furlong is an adult now and he obviously never became an A List actor.

Maybe Furlong didn't get the offer? :| I dunno...... Bale would do a better performance anyway.

Because Christian Bale looks reasonably like an adult version of the young John Connor, so there's no problem with continuity, and he's a much, much better actor. Ninja-Hippo

I guess the producers are forgetting about T3? I just would've thought Furlong had dibs on the role

And yeah, there's no debating that Bale is the better actor.

Pass it up? Did he even get the chance? The folks making that movie want a big name. Ed Furlong isn't it.duxup

From what I hear, they wouldn't even consider hiring Edward Furlong because he's too much of a junkhead. He is (or at least was recently) a big dope fiend who was constantly ****ing up, so they hired a True Professional instead.

Not that I mind. Edward Furlong always seemed kind of wimpy even after he grew up. That's fine for 12 year old John Connor, but now they ought to cast someone with the right screen presence. John Connor is supposed to be a great leader and the savior of humanity, and I don't see wimpy-ass Edward Furlong being able to pull that off.

He was old enough for the offer in 2003 for T3 but was dealing with some addiction problems so was passed over for that. .lucky326

For some reason the new Terminator film does not excite me much. I really liked T1, but for some reason I didnt like T2 as much. Sure it had more action but it felt like a remake rather than a sequel at times. T3 was just plain bad so I am not interested in T4.

Imagine Arnold Playing the Terminator again
