This is a very slipperey slope when it comes to this franchise. This MIGHT have the possibility to be something special, if you have the right writers to expand the mythology.
The first film was a low-budget film ($6.5 million) that helped launch the careers of both these filmmakers. (Schwartzenegger and director and creator James Cameron) The second was another sucessful return to the well, both critically and financially. The third film, believe it or not, was actually not bad. Even though it did not have James Cameron at the helm, it went on to do very respectable business and was, in my opinion, very respectful of the first 2 films while taking the series in a new direction.
Personally, I think they should let this series rest at the third film. It was okay with out Cameron, but not having the original director AND not having Arnold...not to mention there might be a new television series this fall (called The Sarah Connor Chronicles, supposedly coming to Fox) is gonna wind up ending badly for the fans of this series.
wow..a 4th would of been ok, but 3 more movies...thats a little much.samurai93745
