So my girlfriend never really wants to talk on the phone only text... she's really talkative when we're in person together though...
Has texting become a new substitute for talking on the phone or is she just shy on the phone?

My GF called me like 5 weeks ago and told me her tampon kept 'moving out of postion' ;)
Best problem i got..
Some people are just uncomfortable talking on the phone. I hate texting. It takes ten minutes to write a single sentence. :x harashawn
You shoundt say that out loud.
Its good to be able to push the right buttons quickly ;)
texting is way more easier. It let girls get straight to the point. Without the nagging.MgamerBD
That's true but when you talk on the phone you have more communication and get more comfortable with each other... texting doesn't really strenghthen your relationship at all

I don't mind texting, but talking is just so much better because you can communicate much faster and tone changes everything. Through text it can be hard to tell when someone is joking or not and that can lead to problems. Here's how I used to do it.
I would give them a "good morning" text as soon as I woke up. Then I'd call them, or talk to them momentarily after I got off of school or work, and then text random messages during the day saying silly stuff like "I know you we're doing (such and such) today, hope that's going well, Love you, talk to you later."
And I'd usually call them after 9, for those free minutes. It worked for me and my exes.
I hate texting and I'm very annoyed by the large amounts of people that only want to text.

Agreed... in spite of Unknown Hero's astute observation that TC won't have to hear his gf complain.
Aside from the fact that I got a phone plan that doesn't include texting (as I don't use it), I just don't see what's so hard about calling someone, relaying whatever info you need to relay and hanging up. And if I want to have an actual conversation, I'll go see them and do it in person, where it's best to have conversations. If I'm at work or something? Maybe I'll just do my job until the whistle blows and THEN I'll go out and socialize.
As most around here do, I love technology... but I'm really starting to resent these trends that have us typing all day to each other and not having any meaningful face-to-face communication, and that computers and telecommunications devices are all linked together and they're everwhere and ugh... sometimes I think about just moving to Dharamsala and chilling with the Dalai Lama for a while, get away from this Brave New World for a while.

Are you complaining about not having to talk on the phone...I think you are the "girl" in the relationship Be gratefulI prefer talking, but she's probably prefers texting because she can talk to multiple people at the same time that way.
