Thai animation studio GM Toons cranks out subpar CG facsimiles of your favorite childhood films with impunity. Their most egregious creation is their scene-by-scene remake of Disney's Beauty and the Beast, which inexplicably replaces the Beast's head with Simba's.

youtube

GM Toons' crimes against animation don't stop there. Witness Snow White and Seven Kindly Dwarves...

youtube

...and their inscrutable remake of The Land Before Time, which is like watching a stop-motion film starring a bunch of dinosaur piñatas

youtube

You can watch more terrible GM Toon creations (such as the polygonal horror of Bearie and the Poo) here, but only if you hate yourself.

Awww... I was going to do that! They stole my idea of stealing other peoples' ideas! Anyway, American movie studios remake foreign films all the time. They just happen to be different in that they just make the movies worse instead of copying the scenes directly.

Beauty and the Beast a Disney original?

It is a traditional fairy tale that is hundreds of years old...

Edit: And this stuff happens all the time, nothing really wrong with it.

lol...that was funny.

Disney ripped off a Japanese cartoon called Kimba and made their own rendition called The Lion King. Ripping off of others goes way back.

Isn't that how business works? Take a idea, and change one or two things to make it your own.

The thing is through is that those scenes look almost exactly like the ones in Disney's version, but this stuff does happen alot indeed.

Are ANY of the disney animated movies actually original?

They're all based off old tales (though disney likes to act that they invented it and attempt to sue people for using public domain stories).

Most of them are from stories from the 1800's, with a few of them being even older than that (Aladdin is, what? Like a millenia old? And Hercules is thousands of years old).

Why does everyone say Disney is original? Lot's of the movies they made are based off of something.

Pinnochio- Italian children's story, published in 1881.

The Lion King - Rip-off of Kimba the White Lion, some Japanese anime or something.

The Little Mermaid - Written by a Danish poet.

Robin Hood - British folk tale, but with animal characters.

Bambi - Based off of a book from an Austrian author.

Aladdin - From "1001 Arabian Nights".

Beauty and the Beast - Fairy tale.

And more.

I just had to get that off of my chest. It makes me rage a little on the inside when people call out a movie for "ripping-off" disney.

Those scenes look way too similar to the scenes in Disney's version. That why people are saying they are ripping off disney.

Maybe. I haven't seen Beauty and the Beast in nearly a decade, nor do I have a copy of it anywhere, so I wouldn't know.

It the same background but brighter and some different color to it. And I still don't get why the Beast has stripe horns in the thai version.:P

It's only a matter of time before Disney catches wind of this and unleash their lawyers against this company.

The Lion King - Rip-off of Kimba the White Lion, some Japanese anime or something.MetaKnight117

Wikipedia Plot Description of Kimba the White Lion:

"In Africa during the mid-20th century, as mankind encroaches, the white lion, Panja gives the jungle's wild animals a safe haven. However, he angers nearby villagers by stealing their cattle, their food, to feed the jungle carnivores. (In the English dub Panja merely frees the cattle.)

A professional hunter, Viper Snakely, (known as Ham Egg in the original Japanese) is called in to stop these raids. He avoids directly attacking Panja. Instead, he records the sounds of Panja and uses them to trap his mate, Eliza, who then becomes bait in a trap for Panja. Panja is killed for his hide, and the pregnant Eliza is put on a ship, destined for a zoo.

Kimba (Leo in the Japanese-language version) is born on the boat. Eliza teaches him his father's ideals. As a huge storm nears, she urges her cub out through the bars of her cage. The storm wrecks the boat, and he flounders in the ocean. The fish help him learn to swim. As he begins to despair, the stars in the sky form the face of his mother, who encourages him. Guided by butterflies, he makes it to land.

Leo/Kimba lands far from his ancestral home and is found and cared for by some people. He learns the advantages of human culture, and decides that when he returns to his wild home he will bring culture to the jungle and stand for peace like his father.

The show follows Leo/Kimba's life after he returns to the wild, still a young cub, and how he learns and grows in the next year. Leo/Kimba soon learns that only communication and mutual understanding between animals and humans will bring true peace."

^^^

That sounds nothing like Disney's The Lion King, which owes more to Hamlet than anything else.

[QUOTE="Deihjan"]Disney didn't even make Beauty and the Beast.. It's a fairytale.

Same with Cinderella and Briar Rose (Sleeping Beauty). Brothers Grimm Briar Rose Brothers Grimm Cinderella is gruesome. And I'm serious about that. The sisters cut off their heels and toes to try to fit their feet in the slipper. *Grabs book.* "The two sisters were glad to hear this because they had beautiful feet. The oldest took the shoe into a room to try it on, and her mother stood by her side. However, the shoe was too small for her, and she could not get her big toe into it. So her mother handed her a knife and said, 'Cut your toe off. Once you become queen, you won't have to walk anymore.' The maiden cut her toe off, forced her foot into the shoe, swallowed the pain, and went out to the prince. He took her on his horse as his bride and rode off. But they had to pass the grave where the two pigeons were sitting on the hazel tree, and they cried out: 'Looky, look, look at the shoe that she took. There's blood all over, and the shoe's too small. She's not the bride you met at the ball.'... ....The maiden cut off a piece of her heel, forced her foot into the shoe, swallowed the pain, and went out to the prince. He took her on his horse as his bride, and rode off with her. As they passed the hazel tree the two pigeons were sitting there, and they cried out: 'Looky, look, look at the shoe that she took. There's blood all over, and the shoe's too small. She's not the bride you met at the ball.'" - The Complete Fairy Tales of the Brothers Grimm. Also, Cinderella is a folklore, too, so to speak.
