*I've discussed this with a mod and posting webcomics is alright*

*I also apologize for the format of the text, due to GameSpot's many glitches and HTML errors, no matter what I do, it stays like this. Hope you bear with me, this list is not for the faint of heart*
The list will be from least liked to best, so number 1 would be my favorite.

I'll be leaving this site and want to contribute something to those who enjoy reading the occasional webcomic. I'll be updating the topic as I see fit, for as long as possible.

I sometimes use them as reading material while waiting for GameSpot to update, sites to load, research to obtain, procrastination, mostly stuff like that.

I like to think the list is at its best near the 15 mark and then under. The first 20 are really generic, but still nice reads every once in a while. I mean, it is free after all.

Without further ado:
35) GG guys: Another stale vg webcomic that some forum goers are familiar with. Status: I don't know. http://www.gg-guys.com/?id=1

34) Dresden Codak: Recently discovered, my friend insisted that this be put on the list, but not much positives to say about it. Has nice art styIe, but not much content. http://dresdencodak.com/

33) STACCATO- okay comic but seems to be abandoned due to lack of popularity in an overcrowded market. Might be moderately interesting for you. Status: ??? http://www.staccatocomic.com/

32) Manly Guys Doing Manly Things: A recently started webcomic that's trying to enter the relatively stale vg webcomic scene. Pretty funny. Status: updating. http://thepunchlineismachismo.com/archives/71

31) The Scary Go Round: a British horror-comedy comic, which I must give props to the author for updating almost daily. Talk about commitment. Status: finished. Has a new series if you want to check it out on the site. http://scarygoround.com/sgr/ar.php?date=20020604

30) Virtual Shackles: a gaming webcomic that just entered the scene and is trying to make a voice for itself. So far it hasn't been too bad. Status: updating. http://www.virtualshackles.com/1

29) We the Robots: a fun little webcomic that someone here introduced me to. Status: finished? http://www.wetherobots.com/2007/10/01/intro-ch-001/

28 ) goats: I put this because for some reason I kind of liked the sillines, I figure it's great for a certain audience, and more importantly I think it's cute that it has a certain reference to a certain Internet fad before said fad was even... er, a fad. Status: updating. http://www.goats.com/

27) Zelda comic: pretty self-explanatory title and relatively interesting. There are a lot of 8-bit themed comics and only like 3 are worth mentioning. This one's a nice read. Status: TBD. http://www.zeldacomic.net/episode-1-the-truth-behind-the-legend/

26) Mac hall: nice and short. Status: finished. http://www.machall.com/

25) Another Videogame Webcomic: This comic is as generic as the title, but still a nice read for procrastinators. The guy has other webcomics, but the problem is that his font is way too small. Not exactly comfortable for online reading. Status: updating? http://www.digitalpimponline.com/strips.php?start=92&title=avw

24) Digital Unrest: A typical webcomic concerning video games, not much to say here. Status: updating. http://digitalunrestcomic.com/index.php?date=2005-12-08

23) Extra Life: Ok, but not so great. Status: updating. http://www.myextralife.com/

22) Theatre Hopper: Not too bad. I'm just glad it isn't one of those comics where the writers are obsessed with making the comic as small as possible to read, with small font. This one is great, especially since each comic actually links to the next comic, which is awesome. Major kudos to the author. Status: updating, but less often. http://www.theaterhopper.com/

21) Dueling Analogs: Yet another video game webcomic, but I like the art styIe. Status: updating. http://www.duelinganalogs.com/

20) Real Life Comics: This comic has also been around for a while, and it has a bit of geeky fandom in it for those interested. Status: updating.http://www.reallifecomics.com/

19) 2P Start: Nice little comic that does all the typical video game like things. The authors have a great format in making a vertical webcomic instead of a horizontal panel one. This way the comic doesn't stretch to the left if we want to Zoom In. Status: finished. http://www.2pstart.com/2007/02/14/traitor/

18 ) The neglected Mario characters webcomic: I really don't know what to say about this one. The general silliness of it is just wow. Well this one also wins points for having a long stack of "comics" together instead of just one comic a day. And the characters I liked; they were pretty funny. Status: uneven updating. Pretty much none at all really. http://www.smbhq.com/nc/

17) The webcomic "rpg world": Even though it's primarily black and white, the source material it was parodying, being FF 7 and general rpg mechanics, was enough for me to go through. Also has some fourth wall breaking that I personally enjoyed.
Status: never updated. Never again. Oh well...http://www.rpgworldcomic.com/

16) The makeshift miracle: A webcomic that was... weird for me. Since before I read it my experience with webcomics were the likes of Penny Arcade and 8-bit theater. The first to feature an ongoing story-line. But I enjoyed it, and enjoy those similar to it (Gunnerkrigg Court for example) Status: finished. http://www.makeshiftmiracle.com/

15) The bob and george archives: This has so many good things going for it that if nothing else, it has the greatest feature created for webcomics: including 7 webcomics on one page (to coincide with days of the week). Nothing was more epic than that. I wish all webcomics would follow suit with this author's example. It's more reading material with less need to click for another page again and again.
Status: finished. http://www.bobandgeorge.com/archives/000401

14) XKCD webcomic: It's okay, and I'm sure most Internet dwellers will like it. Status: updating. http://www.xkcd.com/

13) Cyanide and Happiness: Pretty silly webcomic, has its moments. Status: updating. http://www.explosm.net/

12) Diesel Sweeties: It's another silly webcomic using a 'unique' art styIe hehe. Status: updating. http://www.dieselsweeties.com/archive/1

11) Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal: this is a pretty funny comic, and some of the author's insecurities and one-sided rivalry with xkcd are hilarious. Status: updating. http://www.smbc-comics.com/index.php?db=comics&id=1#comic

10) Instant CIassic webcomic: An enjoyable webcomic with nice characters that is loosely film-themed or film creating. Unfortunately I don't know if the author cares much about the comic. Status: relative updates. http://www.instant****c.net/prologue/index.php?comic=1

9) lilformers: A transformers themed webcomic that features an incredibly cutesy artsyIe. I seriously recommend that people read it. Also references other works. Status: updating. http://www.lilformers.com/index.php/2006/08/04/lil-formers-1-shockwave/

8 ) Orneryboy: Very funny webcomic that's dark-themed. Featuring ghosts and ghouls and the like, along with the title character, orneryboy. Also a recommended read. Status: updating. http://www.orneryboy.com/index.php?comicID=1

7) Awkward Zombie: webcomic that references super smash bros and other Nintendo franchises. I like the author's humor and drawings, so this one's a win. Status: weekly updates. http://www.awkwardzombie.com/comic1-092006.php

6) CTRL + ALT+ DEL: A video game webcomic with a silly protagonist, that seems to aim towards a more drama/character theme than typical video game parodies with more recent strips. Seems to be extremely hated among the Internet community. Status: updating. http://www.cad-comic.com/

5) Questionable Content: A slice-of-life webcomic that's pretty enjoyable, I recommend to notice the way the author updates the drawing styIe of the comic; the progression is pretty cool. Status: updating. http://questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=1

4) Gunnerkrigg Court: A webcomic that mixes both sci-fi and supernatural elements, I'd recommend this comic to anybody, and the author Tom Siddell has it in print form as well, so a great opportunity to purchase! Status: updating. http://www.gunnerkrigg.com/archive_page.php?comicID=1

3) Penny Arcade: I occasionally enjoy video games, and I like dry humor. These guys are big, and I don't think I need to even put a description about them do I? With their charity events and PAX etc etc... Problem is, since their new website a TON of their old comics are missing, and they don't seem to care enough to straighten it out. I guess that happens when you're pretty busy eh? Status: updating. www.penny-arcade.com/

2) VG Cats: This webcomic is hilarious, and is one of those rare webcomics that you can actually read again and again and still find amusing. A model comic that parodies many games in the industry. But apparently... something has happened and the updating isn't as frequent. Also check out his Pokemon webcomic which is funny and somewhat nostalgic. Status: updating? Infrequently? http://www.vgcats.com/

1) 8-bit theater: What can I say? There's so much history here, so much greatness, the best webcomic there is. I heard about this webcomic around 2006 when I was playing Final Fantasy 5 and browsing GameSpot's FF5 discussion forum, long before I joined GameSpot. When I finally saw it in 2008... well it without a doubt deserves the number one spot on this list. Many thanks to the author, Brian Clevinger. Status: Ended. http://www.nuklearpower.com/2001/03/02/episode-001-were-going-where/

And there you have it folks, a (what I like to think is) comprehensive list of the best webcomics you can find, and a much better list than some of the stuff I've seen on other websites, who really don't know their webcomics.

And then there's:

-Shortpacked!

-Multiplex

-The non-adventures of Wonderella

-Mysteries of the Arcana

-Sister Claire

-Masters of the Art (http://mastersoftheart.com/comic.php?cid=1)

-"The Dreamer" (http://www.thedreamercomic.com/comic.php?id=1)

Webcomics that didn't make the cut (but you might still enjoy):

-Mouse Trap: I was actually going to put this comic up on the list, however there were certain problems concerning the site itself.

-Boxer Hockey: This could have been a good webcomic but it doesn't seem the author cares enough, and a lot of the comics are black 'n white.

-PVP (player versus player) webcomic: The webcomic has small writing. Too small. And I do not wish to stretch out the comic and scroll to the right all the time just to be able to read it. I prefer the vertical comic format found in say, 2P start then the horizontal one that's seen in newspapers

-Megatokyo: It's black and white, enough said. Some might enjoy that, but not me. The content isn't interesting enough for me to struggle through with the styIe of the comic.

-Perry Bible Fellowship: Okay, but didn't really hold my interest much.

-White Ninja: I'm not even going to bother with this one. Any webcomic that has the word ninja in it is bound to be bad. I only heard about this one from another site.

-Dinosaur comics: Not that funny; it was only XKCD's parody of it that I found moderately amusing.

There are over 1000 webcomics on the Internet, but I won't try to find them all. They probably all go under this category, but these up top are just the ones that I gave a chance but ultimately was disappointed with.

Also, while not a traditional webcomic in particular, the Hiimdaisy Comics are pretty hilarious. The author makes fun of such game series as Persona, the Metal Gear Solid games, Phoenix Wright, etc etc. WARNING: You will encounter major spoilers in his comic.

Surprisingly, there's also a dub on Youtube for the Persona 4 comics that's pretty good. Really funny.

Oh yes I'm quite familiar with least I could do, while it starts off with a pretty small comic strip format it's certainly good overall, I'd include it.

I also forgot to bring up Brawl in the Family, which while not particularly in color is rather pleasant overall and certainly family friendly, not to mention cute.

And as I mentioned, I'm well aware of the Internet's extreme hate towards ctrlad, and that's your business. I just hope you find something else to enjoy, such as Gunnerkrigg Court and lilformers, which has undeniably charming artwork and characters.

Teh Gladiators is pretty funny for a WoW comic. Well, it used to be funny... I like the art. Dark Legacy comic another WoW comic, still pretty funny even if you haven't played it. The chronicles of the Flaming Ruby yet again, another WoW comic. I adore Chidori's drawing style and her humour. Typical Danish humour :P

CAD is only good for it's parodies and mocks, the list needs more K.C. Green (horriblevile, cat, gun show) and maybe Patrick Alexander, Nedroid is also a must.

I would have Nerf Now on that list rather than CAD. But I don't think I've ever found a CAD strip funny. Or even mildly amusing. Or original.

Allan Comic is pretty cool in that its an autobiographical webcomic started by a kid in HS, and was updated daily for quite a while.

Polkout is generally very offensive and colorful... 2 things i enjoy.

The Abominable Charles Christopher tells an amazing story when you start from the first comic. It was a one off project by an artist working for Marvel, and it got such great feedback that he kept the site and updates every Wednesday.

hehe oh alright then :P .

"and I'm sure most Internet dwellers will like it"

Like I said, my opinion of something should not impede you or anyone else from enjoying it, and yes to be honest, I'm not up to date on some of the vgcats or other strips, since I haven't read them in over a year or so. Still doesn't deny their place, as it's about how impactful they are to me.

Still, I hope you find something from the list you like. I'm not looking out for the most clever jokes or most subtle jabs and remarks at an audience, just something that passes the time more or less.

VG cats hasn't been funny since about 2007, and it updates about once every two months (not an exaggeration). How the hell can it be #2? Good sir, I implore you to replace its spot with XKCD.

It's unfortunate really, I wanted to do this list a long time ago but forgot about it, and when I finally came around to doing it, GameSpot's annoying WSYIWGsample strips and the like. But now it's resorted to text-based.
editor kept popping up with errors and I had planned to make a big show of this list, putting pictures, examples,

Especially since when a friend directed me to a "comixpedia", I found the site to be absolutely terrible, and thought of doing my own thing. I've put the list on a few other sites, but in the end I guess somewhere along the way I've lost interest in pursuing it.

Posting the OP in 6 parts was entirely unnecessary.
