The 00's Are Over - Good Riddance!

the only good thing that came out of this decade was the internet, and i'm not even sure about that one. Entertainment hit an all-time low in the 00's. what will this decade be remembered for besides the internet?

Meh, I think it was alright. Canada won olympic gold in 2002 (mens hockey) and are world juniors have won something like 5 straight golds again in hockey. AlthoughThe Toronto Mapleleafs didn't win the stanley cup though so that sucks.

Since I've only lived through two decades (eight months in the 80s doesn't count) then yes, I guess the 00s were the worst decade in my life, especially these past few years. The early 00's weren't too bad.

Anyway, 00s had some great music and movies, even though we had an absolutely atrocious president for most of the decade.

Well I was onlythree when the 80's ended so I can't really comment on them, although it does seem to me like they were pretty horrid. This has definitely been the worst decade of my life, though, if I could have a do-over almost everything I would hcange would fall in the 00-09 period.

Maybe that's part of what goes into our estimation, what we remember of the 90's were the things we enjoyted in our teenaged years. Personally, though, I'm 24 and it really does seem to me like the 00's were just a big downer. Everything seemed so bright going into them, the dot com was booming, employers were trying to be more employee-friendly, energy efficiency was supposed to blossom, and it seemed we were getting more accepting and inclusive as a society than ever before. To me it just seemed like as soon as the millenium turned there was a huge backlash and all that started to go completely the other way. Not to say the 90's were awesome with Kuwait and tax hikes and whatnot, but to me the 00's seemed like an even bigger disappointment.

And also my lament comes on a personal level, the past decade really did suck for me.

Out of those it appears to be the worst.......

HOWEVER, the 00's are a transition decade from a world without everyone owning a PC and connected to the internet to a world where much of the civilized world has one and is connected.

By the end of the 90's not everyone had a Cell Phone, a PC, or high-speed internet. High-speed internet, I-Pods, Facebook, twittering, and commonplace cell-phones came into prominence this decade (00's) and it basically has changed things quite a bit.

It may turn out to be one of the most important decades in modern history, I think we need to give it time and see how it impacts the following decades.

To me, what decade it is really doesn't matter. The 2000's only sucked because that's the decade where I went through my teenage years (which I would imagine to be the worst period of anyone's life)

As I only lived through six months of the 80s, the 90s is the only decade I can compare to. And well that was an awesome decade. So yeah good riddance 00's.

bush twice, massive american deficit, two stupid american wars, american protectionism, stephen harper three times, massive Canadian deficit... I could go on. A poor decade but I would not say the worst
