Amazing Spider-Man is a distant third. If you want pure fun see Avengers. If you want a more intense, "deeper" film see Dark Knight Rises.

I don't consider any of them to be a must see, but if I had to pick one it would probably be The Avengers.

I've seen all 3, and I liked The Amazing Spiderman the most so I'll go with that. I'm actually a bigger Batman fan, but I thought Spiderman was a better film.

I have only seen Rises and Avengers, and would probably pick Avengers over Rises 9 times out of 10 to see again. Rises was a good movie, and a prefect ending to the trilogy, but it feels like a retread of TDK without stepping up the game at all. The more time passes after seeing it (saw it Tuesday) the more I'm beginning to think of it as not as good as TDK. While Bane was a good adaptation to Nolan's universe, Hardy didn't really sell the part all that well. Granted, the Joker is the go-to Batman villain with the most detailed history between them, but something set apart Ledger's performance from everyone elses in all three films. Even Catwoman felt highly underdeveloped and more fan-service than anything (despite her being an excellent character in the comics). Avengers on the other hand was a brilliant film that really applied the storytelling formula perfectly, and did an amazing job selling and developing the characters, despite them already having one (and two in Iron Man's case) origin films. The action was well-paced and extravagant without being overly flashy. It was how I envisioned a proper super-hero film, with a prefect balance between solid action and development. Rises felt almost like a forced commentary, with very little and quite underwhelming action (they flipped a f*cking semi end-over-end in TDK... but didn't do anything close to it in Rises). TDK will remain an all-time favorite movie of mine, and while I can't wait to get the trilogy on Blu-ray, I'm looking forward to getting The Avengers even more.

I really enjoyed all 3 movies. But even though they are each superhero movies they're all very different from each other. They were excellent with their characters, story and action sequences. Although if I had to choose just one I would go with the Dark Knight Rises. Batman is my all time favorite comic book hero.

The Amazing Spider-Man was good but it's not anywhere near The Avengers or The Dark Knight Rises level.
The Avengers was great action, great fun, simple straight forward story that blended everything together so well.
The Dark Knight Rises, I feel, is on a whole 'nother level. The story is much deeper, complex, and the action is stunning. The acting alone puts Spidey and Avengers to shame in that department.
The Dark Knight Rises wins this one for me.

Any word on when they'll release a trilogy set? I know Underworld did it as soon as Awakening came out, but I already had the previous 3 so I didnt need it. However, I dont have Batman Begins or The Dark Knight, so I will be buying the trilogy set this time, lol.

WAY too early, especially since the movie was released in theaters just last week. But I imagine the studio will more than likely come up with a box set just in time for the holidays.

My bf did say he liked the avengers better than TDKR, but they're totally different films.

I have yet to see Amazing Spider-man, my friend tells me that it's more on an emotional note than anything. But my my, the TDKR was so bad that it's amazing that anyone above the age of 10 can say it was good in any way. I would have to say the Avengers. It isn't groundbreaking, but it was thoroughly entertaining.

I haven't seen Spiderman yet, but I'd have to go with TDKR. The Avengers was dissappointing for me, and I saw it twice with two different groups of friends, so I have a decent feel for it. As a superhero movie I get that it's awesome having all the characters in it, but beyond that it didn't seem that great. The action sequences weren't particularly entertaining (I would make an exception for the hero v hero battles, I'll admit those were cool), but aside from those the action was stale, the cheesy lines got cringe-worthy, and nothing was incredible about it.

It was pretty Dissapointing. Catwoman felt pretty forced, Bane was nowhere near on the level of joker, lame twist, it's cheesily over the top (it's a setback for the trilogy imo) and it was pretty cliche and the whole movie just felt very rushed. I mean during a majority of the dialogue there would be epic music in the background as if some action scene was aproaching/the movie was going to end soon.

The Avengers is a must watch its the first of its kind but I'd watch all of them. Spiderman is a reboot but a pretty good one that I would recommend people watch. TDKR is a good movie but its the third in the series and its about as good as the previous ones.

Best film: Avengers, its the film that could never be made but was. And its a blast.

Must see: TDKR, it concludes the best super hero movie series ever. You simple must see the resolution.

i dont know what the hell they were thinking with catwoman, she wasnt even introduced in the past 2 movies, it downgraded the movie for sure.

Cat Woman was the best part of the movie.

They made her character an actually smart & clever thief that played both sides.

Best live action adaptation of her so far as it raises her above dominatrix eye candy.

couldn't vote to be honest.

Avengers and Dark Knight Rises are my favorite superhero movies of the summer. Each for two different reasons.

Despite my top three favorite superheroes being Iron Man, Batman, and Spider-Man. I found Amazing Spider-Man just rather underwhelming really. Where as Iron Man in Avengers and Batman knocked my socks off.

Sounds like you went in with too high of expectations. I enjoyed Rises because I was expecting only one thing: an enjoyable end to the Nolan trilogy. You expected Hardy to put out a Ledger level performance? Batman Begins was also fairly over-the-top too. TDK was one of those movies where everything just lines up perfectly. I guess it helped that Batman and The Joker always make for great Batman storytelling.

Don't necessary take his recommendation. Pretty much almost everyone agrees TDKR is brilliant. I think so. It's only 5 bucks at my AMC, why not go see it? I've seen it 4 times.

They touched on practically every one of her main character traits. It was disappointing that she didn't get the screen time she deserved, but Hathaway did a fantastic job with what she was given (script wise). Plus, there is no way they could have written her in as the main antagonist... she is never an antagonist (AFAIK) in Batman comics. Just a side character that either helps Wayne because she has a hidden good-side, or hinders him because she's interested more in the loot.

I expected him to put on at least a good one. There were so many plot holes, the story was utterly weak............ even the action couldn't save it. And that scene where the cops chased batman, THAT was so laughable!

I agree it had little substance, but the action scenes were some of the best i've seen of any comic movie.

I'm pretty sure when I get the DVD, I'll be doing a bit of skipping.

I walked out of the avengers theater and said, "that was a good movie". Didn't have the urge to see it again. I walked out of TDKR shaking. Saw it 3 more times.

Avengers was mediocre. There was no real substance IMO.
