Great, now I've got the "one of these things is not like the others" song stuck in my head.

They use different methods of dramatization so it is would be a matter of opinion about an individual's favorite style.

I like Bruce Lee for serious stuff and Jackie Chan for comedy/serious movies. I haven't really seen much of John Woo so I can't make an opinion on him.

Not much can beat Jackie Chan at his prime (1975-1990). Of course for the past 5-10 years basically any movie he's been has sucked, with the exceptions of maybe Shinjiku Incident and Little Big Soldier.

Isn't John Woo a director? You may be thinking of Chow Yun Fat (sp).

I'd have to pick Jackie Chan. His 70's and 80's movies like Drunken Master are far superior to any of Bruce Lee's Hong Kong movies. Enter the Dragon is probably the only Bruce Lee film 95% of America has seen. Say what you will about his later movies but Chan made some classics early on.

The issue is the best of the 3 movie directors which is a matter of opinion. I clarified.

Okay first off John Woo Is a movie director/Producer. Not a actor. And out of Jackie Chan and Bruce Lee I'll use an actually quote Jackie Chan used in a documentary. "After his death everybody tried to make a copy of him to get the same success, They even wanted me to do so but I refused. Because there is only one Bruce Lee, the best. Don't get me wrong, Jackie Chan is an incredible Kung Fu actor and frankly my favorite of the two but Bruce Lee represent it better.

Something I find rather lacking in most fighting movies, especially featuring kung fu, is the feeling of "impact" of when the strike hits. So instead of answering the title, I'mma link a few short short clips of what I really like with the Tony Jaa movies and thai boxing. Thai boxing just looks like it hurts like **** when you get hit. Much better than all of them rest!

All from the same fightscene though:

Brutal kick!

Nice knees

1 - Bruce Lee 2 - Jackie Chan 3 - Jet Li John Woo is a great director and made Keanu Reeves look like he could fight :) Honorable mention to Robin Shou for his portrayal as Liu Kang in the Mortal Kombat movies, and helping the new Karate (Kung Fu) Kid movie bearable.

John Woo is a director so you might have him confused with either Chow Yun Fat or Jet Li, considering Fat isn't a major martial arts actor then I'd say Li is a better fit.

But either way, Bruce Lee wins.

No, he never had a fight scene in a movie before. I don't know why you choose him to be compared to Jackie Chan or Bruce...... Jet li or Donnie Yen is much more comparable.

Jackie Chan, but then again I haven't seen a lot of Bruce Lee or John Woo. I do like Jackie's action scenes though, whether they are humorous or badass they are worth watching.

Jackie Chan's primary training was as an acrobat, not a true martial artist. Also, I believe his true talents lie in fight choreography and film editing. If you really watch his movies, you'll see that his camera work, scene setups, and editing are styled after Gene Kelly, Buster keaton, and Fred Astaire movies. He even states this in his many interviews.

If you're looking for actual martial arts masters who made/make films, I would not choose any of the three.

I'd go with Donnie Yen or Jet Li. They are both actual martial arts practitioners.

Appearing as himself in various easter egg cameo roles doesn't count. His characters have credited names like "man in bed" or "man on stairs".

Odd, seems he starred in a movie by doing research.

Funny how you can't even name a single movie. I looked it up. He has not been in a movie where he has done any action scenes at all.
